ASC report - how negative?

Just received my 18 year old DS report from CAMHS about being diagnosed with ASC (he had the assessment when he was 17).

I'm so suprised with how negative it reads? And I work in this field (not neuro) so write a lot of letters and reports about young people so try to always consider how what I write will be received.

The part where I have given my views on DS reads horribly. And lots of what they feel I have said verbatim, including a topic I asked them not to include as it would upset DS.

There's not a cover letter stating his diagnosis so he would have to give the full thing as proof of this which I'm not sure he will want to do.

Am I being unreasonable to ring and say I feel if DS sees this report and what they feel I have said about him it will cause him genuine upset? It's as if someone has pointed out every single flaw he has - and I did talk about the things he struggles with but thought a professional might word it more..... sensitively.

Any experience of this please?

When report writing I've always tried to do so in a way which would be readable to the person it was written about, so yes, to talk about difficulties but also talk about strengths.
It doesn't hurt to ask them if they can amend or write a version that he can have for his own understanding of his condition if they feel that everything within the original report is needed for his diagnosis.
