At what age is it acceptable to take children to professional sporting events?

As the title says, at what age is it acceptable to take children to professional sporting events such as Rugby, Ice Hockey, etc.?

My DD is 19 months old, and, recently, I wanted to take her to a few Ice Hockey games, but my DP thought she was too young and would find it over-stimulating/too much to handle. I disagreed but didn't force the issue, as there is always next season, and I still went to them.

But I wanted to see if there is a consensus on the best age to start taking children to professional sporting events. Is there a consensus?

I mean, we took DS to the rugby (Saracens) when he was 7 months, but he mostly slept in the sling or sat on my knee and screeched merrily at the people sitting around us - he had zero idea that there was a game being played.

Now he's one and we probably won't take him again till he's 3 or 4 because it'd be unfair on both him and people who want to watch the game - he just wants to charge around shrieking and I don't want to inflict that on people, nor do I want to corral him on my knee for over an hour.

If you want to watch something, maybe cricket on the village green where you can wander off to a cafe or whatever!

She won’t remember anything much before age 3 re getting her into
sport 😀
