PIP Renewal - how long?!

Does anyone know how long PIP renewals are taking atm? I put mine in in Feb and haven't heard anything yet and it's starting to stress me out a bit!

I sent mine off today, I don't know how I will cope if I'm still waiting to hear about it in four months! Sad

I've found the form filling in process really stressful as it is. The last time I was reassessed (when I was moved from DLA) my money was wrongly reduced and I had to appeal it. It was a horrible time. I have secondary progressive MS which everyone but the DWP accepts does not become magically better.

I have this concern. I also have a chronic condition that will only get worse but keep hearing horror stories. Hopefully we will both be okay. We certainly ought to be!

I was due assessment January 2021, got paperwork feb 2022, I sent my paperwork in Feb 2022, had a Phonecall Sept 2022 asking lots of questions to see if I had suddenly got better it seemed! Had an assessment April 2023, got award may 2023 (quickest ever time from assessment to award, 5 days because they'd reduced me even though I'm worse now than I was last assessment). I haven't got the energy unfortunately to fight it as I'm not well enough at the moment. The only positive was the assessor said reassess in 2 years and the decision maker has said 4.

@Bookendortwo I'm sorry to hear that. It's a bloody disgrace what they do to us.

If you do decide to appeal, I highly recommend fightback4justice. They are a group of legal experts who help people to put together appeals etc. Some info is free, but I used their paid service, and donated a part of the back pay I eventually got to them. Don't worry about being out of time to appeal either - I kept putting it off for over a year but they helped me with that.

I think this situation will continue until the DWP are made to start paying compensation to those who they are found to have wrongly assessed!

My claim runs out 5th July 2023, sent my renewal back in december and so far heard nothing. I rang them a few weeks ago to be told no idea when i will know anything but that my renewal has been sent to have an assessment done, so ive now got even longer to wait to find out the outcome, this service for PIP is a Sh1tsh0w. hope you get yours sorted soon, i rely on the money i get from pip if i lose it im in trouble cos then lose my care element of UC, my partner will lose his carers allowance and then i lose my lcwra most likley its alot of money to lose per month

Mine isn't due till next year and I'm already stressed, they always reject it and then need to appeal. (last time changed their mind before the appeal though)

My friend has an ongoing award for secondary progressive MS. Might be worth appealing for that in future (to PP with MS)

We are first time for DS whose been in hospital 8 months and now out, applied in Jan, first call to assess this week 8.26am which cuts out and they don't ring back but have spoken for 5 mins.

RogerMeSidewaysAndCallMeBarbara · 09/06/2023 16:27

DP's was sent last March, he had his phone assessment last week so around 15 months

purdy283 · 11/06/2023 11:56

got a letter from PIP yesterday, telling me they are extending my current award til 5th july 2024, but that my assessment could be before then!

CosyCoffee · 13/06/2023 08:27

I've had a text from DWP this morning saying my review is complete and that I should hear from them in writing within two weeks. I sent in my review form two weeks ago- I don't know if it's a good or bad sign that I've heard back so quickly.

purdy283 · 13/06/2023 13:58

@CosyCoffee hope its good news for you x

Patchw0rk · 13/06/2023 16:38

5th Oct sent back renewal forms

1st April my original award was due to run out

Start of April they text me to say I'd continue to get paid til it was done as there's a backlog

Today got renewal letter, same as before, for the next 4 years.

Patchw0rk · 13/06/2023 16:39

Sorry hope that doesn't stress you out further that mine went in October. I'm sure it's different from area to area maybe? Also like I said, I carried on being paid til it was renewed.

FriendsDrinkBook · 13/06/2023 16:40

Just over a year.

CosyCoffee · 17/06/2023 10:16

I've received the decision letter today confirming my money will remain the same, which is what I hoped. Such a relief.

So it took just over two weeks from sending in the form to get the decision. I'm really sorry for those of you waiting longer, it's so stressful not knowing and worrying Flowers

Whatsherusername · 17/06/2023 12:59

I sent my renewel in in august 2022 and still waiting, my friend has just had hers finalised and it took 15 months

Mine took 7 months and yours took 2 weeks?!

CosyCoffee · 17/06/2023 17:59

It's crazy isn't it @Patchw0rk. All I can assume is that maybe it depends on your area and the backlog they have? I'm in the West Midlands btw.

Patchw0rk · 22/06/2023 17:00

Yeah must be. I'm near London.

gettingolderbutcooler · 22/06/2023 17:05

Silkierabbit · 22/06/2023 17:18
