Would this annoy you - sports club for girls

I have my 2 dds in a sports club for girls, run by women.

They have been going for a few weeks now, and are getting a little busier.

Get there tonight and now 2 men are also helping run it.

I was a bit annoyed, but didn't say anything, but there was a definite shift away from empowerment and into a kind of "you're doing so well for girls' feeling (for example the guys told the girls to pretend there was a spider behind them to make them run faster, previously it had just been support, encouragement and tactics).

Just so disappointed to sport that's predominantly male, being accessible to girls for once, then having guys running it too and treating the girls like little princesses (these guys also run the club for boys and they were totally different with the girls).

Not much I can do I guess, just needed to get that off my chest.

It's a pity that enough female coaches can't be found for girls sports clubs. At my son's cricket club Tuesday night is female cricket night and males are not allowed on site except for the parking area dropping off or collecting females. The boys are not even allowed to watch their sisters train or play. It's actually meant a lot of new girls joined as their religion means they can't do mixed sports events. All female coaches.

@caringcarer totally agree.
Out of 100 volunteers at our football club, 4 are female. Rugby has 1 out of 45. Hockey has half & half. Our swimming is all male instructors.
Our girls cricket team luckily is run by the women's team so the teen girls group has 3 female coaches. But the mini cricket 5-11 is all male again. Local martial arts classes are all male instructors with odd exception.
Out of all the almost 200+ coaches I know I'd say 5-10% only are female.
Netball is the other sport I know that's the reverse.
Ethnically diverse female coaches / volunteers are like hens teeth.

I completely get where you're coming from. I want on a women's coaching weekend in my very male-dominated sport. The coaches were a mixture, and although some of the male coaches were good, I found the women coaches generally far more inspiring as potential role models, more encouraging to the participants with less confidence and far more in tune with what techniques work best for women's bodies. I would have preferred all female coaches.

The spider and nail comments are really disappointing.

I'd raise your preferences politely with the organisers, while recognising that organising anything at all is no easy feat!

Whenever I go on coaching courses that aren't aimed just to encourage females, I'm generally the only female or one of two out of 30
