Anyone parked at Heathrow?

I have to drive to Heathrow in the summer and am trying to book a carpark space, which I'll need for 11 days. What is worrying me is that the official site and Purple Parking (which I've used before at another airport) are both quoting twice as much as a few other comparison sites I've looked at. Our flights are at reasonable times of day and we've no small children/elderly people so really just want the cheapest option and paying £220 instead of £97 is quite a consideration for me. I don't care if it's a bit more time-consuming but I'm worried about being ripped off - should I be? Anyone got any experience of using these sites? Thanks.

Having had 600 miles out on my supposedly stationary car in 2 weeks, I always book official Heathrow parking. Far enough in advance it isn’t that pricey

We used Heathrow parking last month, yes £220 for 15 days but could drive into short stay at T3 and car was ready with no excess miles on our return. Much less stress than parking away and needing transfers. (Cheaper than train/plane from Manchester)

Just don’t use anyone where you need to leave your keys.

Don’t use anything other than official parking, there’s a reason they’re so cheap. £220 for 11 days in the summer sounds about right.

You could park much further out and get the train/tube in if cost is an issue?

coffeerevelsrule · 30/05/2023 07:00

Thanks all. Problem is now that they are pretty much all ones where you leave your keys, which I am wary about. I'm thinking of using Just Park (where you park on someone's drive). I'm finding there options for about £85 near (about 2 miles according to the map) Heathrow and could then use Uber or even tube?

long term parking at the airport? You don’t leave your keys

QueenOfWeeds · 30/05/2023 07:37

It sometimes works out cheaper to book an airport hotel with parking - I think (depending on the hotel) you can park for up to a fortnight.

NeedingCoffee · 30/05/2023 07:37

I think it depends on the value of your car. We have a very old one with 125k miles on the clock and always take that to the airport and leave it with the cheapest, but still highly rated and “approved” meet and greet. But I agree I wouldn’t do that with a new Jaguar for example.

This is what we do and even get to have breakfast thrown in

At Heathrow we tend to book the business parking area for terminals 2&3. You park yourself so you don't have to worry about someone taking your car on a joyride, it's fenced off with lighting and patrols too. Then when you get back it's just a quick transfer on these mini bus type vehicles to the car, super easy in our experience.

Not as cheap as some other options, but I wouldn't feel safe handing the keys to someone to park or parking on someone's drive!

Yes we've used the Novotel parking where you stay for one night and then get a fortnight of parking.

Otherwise use the official Heathrow long stay parking. Be careful you have to go down the page a bit to find the official parking, purple parking is not official.

ukhgf · 30/05/2023 08:17

Airport parking has shot up over the last year. We use purple parking because we've successfully used them before and they're not as exorbitantly expensive, but when our older car broke down before our last holiday we opted to get the train rather than leave our expensive car with them (cancellable thankfully).

We live in the wider Heathrow area. The cheaper offers do not have proper car parks, they leave you car any old place then drive it back in time for you to collect.

Absolutely, scroll down and use the official long stay car parks. The shuttle bus service is fine.
