Mum2mum market what to buy?

Hi not sure if this is the right place to post but I’m thinking of going to a Mum2mum market as I can’t find any local nct sales.
There are a few things I’m specifically wanting to buy like a sit me up, travel cot, playpen, summer tent, half buckle sling (yes very specific!) and obviously lots of toys and books!

Would I be able to find any of these things at the m2m or am I better off on using Facebook market place?

Would love to hear if anyone has been and what they bought/ sold prices etc. My health visitor told me about these sales so I have no idea what to expect and haven’t heard of these sales before. The website says to bring lots change so are we talking lots of pound coins? Is it like a baby boot sale?

Thanks all!

Yes it's exactly like a baby boot sale. You might get some of those things or none at all. I went to one once and the really good stuff like a sleepyhead went very quickly to the first people in the door. The rest was lots of second hand baby clothes etc. it's worth going and a good idea to take a list but don't expect to get everything you're hoping for.

I would make a list of what you are looking for and have a look on Facebook marketplace.
Write down an average price for each item and then have a look at the mum2mum sale.
That way you know whether you are getting a decent deal or not.

In my experience, it depends on who is selling.
I'm also often surprised at which items sell for very little and which go for a lot.

I would say £ coins and £5 notes. Sellers often run out of change.
I have a great mum2mum market near me and have bought most things there. I love them, but I do go regularly and pick up a few bits each time rather than expecting to find everything in one go..
I much prefer it to marketplace because I can see things with my own eyes before I buy and there is no awkwardness trying to back out of a deal if the stuff turns out to be crap. I once bought from marketplace and when I got home there were mouse droppings in the bag. I messaged the seller asking for a refund, and she blocked me on fb and badmouthed me in the local groups like I was the scammer.

They can be really good and worth going to. Go early and queue up for entry. Take your own bags. Do a quick walk around at the start and buy anything obvious you like the look of. Then you can go around again in more detail and spend longer at specific stalls. Towards the end sellers will reduce their prices or accept a lower offer usually!

Thanks all for the great advice. I’m quite looking forward to it now actually! I do hope it’s not utter chaos and I can peacefully walk around to look at stalls without barging across people as I’m planning to bring the pushchair.

@hohohomey yuck- what a horrible buying experience. Some people should not be allowed to sell. I agree. I would much rather see things in person as marketplace/ eBay can be such hit or miss.

@CaptainMum thank you for the bag reminder- I would definitely forget! I’ll be sure to hang around until the end too- who doesn’t love a bargain!

One more question for everyone. Although should probably start a new thread for this. What should I be getting for a 6 nearly 7 month old? He’s into furiously banging his hand up and down and throwing things at the moment! He’s just started rolling but gets stuck on his front, I feel like a blink and he’s already onto another stage.
