Sun cream for sensitive skin children

As much as it’s lovely to see some proper sunshine I dread the suncream battles (it’s too sticky, not on my face, arrggg). DC are primary aged now and prone to sensitive skin. Any suncreams I tried in past caused red rashes until I found SunSense and have been using that successfully the last 4 years. I think it’s discontinued now(?) and am at a loss as to which to try. They are all so expensive that I don’t want to buy a bottle and then only get one use as if it brings them out in rashes. Anyone found any good solutions as alternative to SunSense? Preferably one that comes in easy small bottles or roller balls so they can take to school too. TIA

My sister uses the calypso once a day stuff on my nephew who has really sensitive and eczema prone skin.

She does reapply during the day too

Aldi sell a sensitive skin range. It's good value and always scores well when compared with other brands.

Sunsense kids still exists. I use it for mine as normal sun screen gives them a rash.

Boots soltan do a sensitive one and never had any problems with it.

you can buy refillable rollerball bottles on ebay 🙂

Childs farm has always worked well on my children’s super sensitive skin. They do roller balls but not cheap!

Ultrasun every time. All their creams are said to be for sensitive skin but they do a kids version too. It's pricey but only needs applying once in a day

Altruist is amazing (can get it fairly cheaply on Amazon). The only suncream that my eczema-prone DD can tolerate.

We used Sunsense for years. We struggled to find it last summer so switched to Aldi's own brand sensitive kids' sun cream. It works well for us.

I used to get Sunsense on prescription after a spectacular reaction to suncream.

I really rate Green People's baby/child sunscreen. It's fantastic and no reactions for super sensitive and allergic me so happy days. I believe Holland and Barrett own one is good also but haven't tried. The Green People one has been a stalwart for me and the kids.

These are the usual triggers for sunscreen allergy, along with PABA in P20 and co

Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate

Yep another vote for this. Its not oily. Goes on like a moisturiser.

Same here. Red head, very pale and freckles, sensitive skin. The calypso sutff is like an oil so doesnt seem to block up my skin. Ive used it for years, it stood up to 40°c in mexico, no burning. Just make sure you cover all areas, any missed bits will burn (small patch just below my bum in cuba one year 🙄)

Another convert to Altruist. We won’t use anything else. Our local Lloyds stocks it now, as well as Amazon..

TheMindfulMum · 29/05/2023 22:56

Can anyone recommend a suncream suitable for children's faces that won't sting their eyes when they go swimming, please?
