How strict are they on height at Paultons Park?

Just measured DD and she is bang on 1m tall in shoes! How strict are they, do you think they will let her in for free? Would like to save £40 if possible!

Last time we went my dc had to walk under something to prove they were under 1m.

Mummy2mybear · 28/05/2023 19:54

I doubt it they measure as they enter through the main gates if its questionable.

LizzieSiddal · 28/05/2023 19:54

Very! They used to employ ex prison guards 😂but not sure if they still do.

HaPPy8 · 28/05/2023 19:54

Pretty strict! Take her shoes off and put them on inside!

LizzieSiddal · 28/05/2023 19:55

Yes they do have to walk under a 1m thing to prove they can get through it.

LizzieSiddal · 28/05/2023 19:56

Good idea re the shoes.

Plus no high pony tails and also could you get her to practice walking with a slight bend of the knees.😂

modgepodge · 28/05/2023 19:57

You won’t get away with it. I measured my daughter as 99cm and thought she’d be ok. She had to walk under a measuring stick.

However , I hadn’t paid for a ticket for her in case. When I walked over to buy her ticket and explained, they very kindly honoured the online price rather than charging the gate price. So I’d recommend not booking in advance for her and trying to get her in for free as you have nothing to lose.

modgepodge · 28/05/2023 19:58

Also fairly sure they have signage saying they have to wear shoes to be measured 😂

mummabubs · 28/05/2023 19:58

They make the kids walk under a height barrier and specify that they need to be in shoes. It's a pain but I'm not sure I'd risk it tbh.

catmg · 28/05/2023 19:58

My daughter was the range, so I paid for all of us to go. But when she went in, she went under the 1m barrier and the guy at the desk sent us over to the ticket desk to get a refund of her ticket price. So I think they're very fair.

EmeraldFox · 28/05/2023 20:00

What are her shoes like? Put her in the thinnest shoes possible, if she has plimsolls compared with chunky trainers for example.

TheSnowyOwl · 28/05/2023 20:03

In my experience they will get your 98cm child (99cm in shoes) called back to be aggressively measured so they can insist they are 1 metre and ensure they charge the full amount on entrance. Then, when you decide to make the most of it and go on the rides for 1 metre plus, they will refuse entry to the rides on the grounds that the child isn’t 1 metre tall after all!

EmeraldFox · 28/05/2023 20:16

@TheSnowyOwl In that case I think they should honour the gate measurement. The height could be written on the ticket so it can be matched to the child. Or if the child is on the cusp I'd take their thinnest shoes for the gate and their thickest shoes for rides.

Watto1 · 28/05/2023 20:25

Ds was asleep in his buggy and they made him get out to be measured. He was a hair’s breadth over in his shoes so we had to buy him a ticket.

Yes they do your right 😂 i did not mention in earlier post, the reason they charge is because 1mplus have access to the good attractions. They are very strict on the rules!

STEMum · 28/05/2023 20:43

If you do end up paying, when you're in, you can be measured by an 'official measurer' and they give you a wrist band. That way she will at least be able to get on the rides you've paid for! It was in an office near the entrance.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2023 20:43

Yea they are strict.

And yes you may need to argue at some rides that you paid for a ticket because they are over 1m.

Although I loved the trip ds and I went and he measured just under 1m but measured 1m on some of the rides inside 🤔🤣

I always had a season ticket so I just got him one after that.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 28/05/2023 20:55

Very they measured my daughter and she was clearly well below the 1m. I think there is a sign up saying they have to wear shoes to be measured x

bettynutkins · 28/05/2023 20:56

My sister didn't pay for my niece beforehand. She was 1m exactly at the gate and they made my sister pay the extra.

Avariceagain · 28/05/2023 21:22

They are really strict- has to be done wearing shoes, they will get them out of the buggy etc. To be honest though, ride cut offs are mostly either 90cms or 1.1m or 1.2m - I can't actually think of one where the cut off is 1m (I suspect to avoid this issue) but if you download the app it will tell you all the height cut offs!

BarbaraVineFan · 30/05/2023 18:55

Thanks everyone! We went today and she measured just over 1m at the gate. I am a conformist anyway though and had already paid in advance! It was totally worth it though, we had an awesome time 😊

Glad you had fun. My DD2 was always small for age, we didn't have to pay for her for years.

QuiltedHippo · 30/05/2023 18:59

How busy was it @BarbaraVineFan I decided not to go this weekend as thought it was be rammed, would like to go before we have to pay for DD though
