Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having breakfast in my favourite spot in the kitchen. I'm not usually a breakfast person but woke up starving today! I have the window open so I can feel the breeze, and the washer's going already. There are a few pots to wash up, but someone else can sort those later on.

I'm planning another lazy day today, barring the washing. I'm going to make some Rainbow Fish display props to send into work, and do my nails. I've got some seeds to try planting too - might be a bit late but it'll keep me busy tending to them over summer. I might even get out my crochet now my attention span's improved.

I'm also waiting to see if the table part of my new garden furniture arrives. The rest was delivered yesterday but the table is still "out for delivery" for some reason 🙄

The girls' dad is going to carry on sorting out the back garden so I can use it over the summer. He did loads yesterday & it looks much better for it. There's a small bin of huge boxes to burn tonight too, when there's no washing to be seen in neighbouring gardens.

I'm not sure what the girls will do 🤷‍♀️ I don't expect to see them for a good while yet 🤣💤

I've got a gammon in the sc for tea, we'll decide what to have with it when everyone's up 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

Just finished first coffee of the day. Washing to go on line, it looks a bit overcast here today but hopefully will brighten up.
need a shower then going to visit mother with DD’s.
tonight myself and DD going to see the little mermaid at cinema ( sad but true) not sure what to expect.

Loving all these relaxing posts. I always think I've got the weekend to do nothing and how lovely that will be, but then end up feeling guilty that I've wasted a day. Currently on my third brew Blush, dog is walked, washing is hung and I'm going to do a lawn treatment and that is the extent of my plans!

coffeetofunction · 28/05/2023 09:35

Morning coffee in the garden before I get ready to go and spend three days with my new partner.

Adarajames · 28/05/2023 09:41

I’m in Norfolk helping run a kids event, Fairyland Trust’s Fairy Fair. Lovely event and the rest of the crew are fab so hard work but lovely to be with them all again

Natsku · 28/05/2023 09:45

Only got up an hour ago (its nearly midday here), took DS over to the neighbours to play with their grandson before he goes back home this afternoon (I don't know how DS will cope when their grandson starts school in the Autumn and can't come for week long visits many times a year any more, he lives for his visits!)
DD is just getting up now, enough time for a quick lunch then she's off to jujitsu.
OH is playing guitar in the basement.
I'm having a cup of tea and then I shall play some Zelda. Its so nice not to have to spend all my free time studying now that I've done my driving theory exam (and passed, thank goodness) so I can instead spend it playing Zelda or reading.

Gorgeous morning here in West Wales. Just finishing breakfast in the garden, then after a quick clear up I need to go out to collect DS18 from his friend's 18th birthday campout.

Then a lazy day is 'un'planned, reading, listening to music and possibly a little bit of day drinking 🥂.

Tagliata and Rainbow Slaw for supper later 😋

treacledan71 · 28/05/2023 09:51

Had a housework day yesterday although it's never ending. Just put a wash out. Kids still in bed. Other half at work. Meeting a friend later for a coffee and we will go for a walk. I made lunch already to heat up already for everyone later as I may still be out as other half only got a short break. Plan to read this afternoon. Need to clean the cooker but will soak racks overnight and do it tomorrow. Hope you enjoy your day. X

Utterly fantastic to see this thread pop up this morning @lucysmam !
I also look forward to them.
So pleased to hear you are having a good day.

I will get up soon and get a wash on. It should dry in no time at all today.
Then, sorting out some clothes, a bit of gardening and I’ve decided to order the M&S Summer Beauty Bag after all.

DH’s fab pasta for lunch in the garden and pizza and sides for tea.

Enjoy the sunshine and every best wish to you for your recovery 😊

anewbook · 28/05/2023 09:57
  • always look forward not also!

Morning all. Everyone is awake in our house apart from dd15. Dd18 is in her room, dh is eating breakfast and dd8 and her friend are eating pancakes.

The plan today is for DD’s friend to be picked up at 11am, dd8 is then going to her grandmas at 12 for the night - her little friend in her grandma’s street has invited her to their bbq and to play in their paddling pool so she’s looking forward to that.

Dh and I are taking advantage of being small child free and he finally has a day off work so we’re going out for lunch just the two of us and for a mooch round the shops then my sister is having a boozy bank holiday bbq which we’ll go to later this afternoon and stay there til late.

Dd18 is working til 7pm then had a friend coming round and sleeping over.

Dd15 plans to do some revision, go to the gym and then two of her friends are coming round to play around with her sewing machine and attach things to their school shirts so they have a posh one for everyone to sign on their last day.

@HelpMeGetThrough I hope your youngest is ok 💐

Thanks. He's fine, has a bit of an ongoing issue with his knee. Back at home now. He's crashed out now with some breakfast and thinking about going to the beach with his mates later, typical 16 year old really.

Think I'll mow the grass, as it could be a little too early to hit the beer and wine 😁

Decafflatteplease · 28/05/2023 10:31

Morning @lucysmam and all, so glad you are able to eat now!

Lovely morning so far here today I had a lie in, DH brought me tea in bed which was lovely.

It's warm but overcast here which suits us we aren't sun worshippers! About to get a load of washing on the line, just been pottering around this morning.

This afternoon we are off to a nature reserve, not sure what's for dinner yet, possibly a curry. Slow cooker gammon sounds good we always do our gammon in the slow cooker with a run of pineapple slices and a glass of apple juice.

Have a lovely Sunday all!

Allrightmylover · 28/05/2023 10:48

DH and I will be cleaning the conservatory. A scrabble rematch and I’m hoping to win this time. I’m trying an outdoor yoga lesson early evening, haven’t been for years but quite fancied this. Awaiting messages from two friends about meeting up, they are both teachers so off next week. Lunch and dinner in the garden as it’s nice, we had a BBQ yesterday. Will probably finish the novel I was reading yesterday. I also need to think about a window display I will be changing towards the end of the week.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 28/05/2023 10:53

Just had both cars' aircon topped up by a lovely local mobile chap; now procrastinating before going for a run then off down to the allotment to plant out courgettes and some other bits. DH on the last of four nights so asleep now, hope to actually catch up with him this afternoon before he goes back into work.

gingercat02 · 28/05/2023 11:00

Waking up hungry is a good sign @lucysmam didn't realise you were ill until yesterday. Good to have you back 🥰
Quiet day today. Lazy breakfast and then just pootling about at home. F1 to watch and then last day of the Premier league. Our club has qualified for the Champions league so much excitement.

Stepbystep100 · 28/05/2023 11:04

Breakfast in garden under the gazebo. Banana pancakes (made by my husband) with yoghurt and fruit, and coffee.

Lazy morning sat reading book.

Will potter in garden later.

Then making a paella for tea with a nice white wine. Will eat outside if it stays like this.

I have an hours work to do before Tuesday morning but it's such lovely weather I think I'll leave it until tomorrow or get up early on Tuesday to do it.

Chelsea26 · 28/05/2023 17:40

I opened this thread this morning and then got distracted but I’m posting anyway because I love these threads!

DP, ‘MIL’, DSD and I were at a wedding in Leeds yesterday (DP was Best Man and I was a Bridesmaid - which was lovely!) We danced for about 5 hours last night so feet are killing me today!

Drove back to London this morning, took the dog for a walk and popped into see my mum who’s been on holiday for three weeks and now DP, DDog and I are sitting in the sun, drinking wine, at our local cricket club, watching our 18yr old lodger play cricket while watching the football on the mobile.

I’m going to suggest going for a curry on the way home (will need to drop the dog off obvs - but DP won’t mind doing that when I remind him about my poor danced off feet!)

lucysmam · 28/05/2023 18:00

Well, I've had a lovely day. Slowly did my nails with some nail wrap stickers this morning, and I painted peg dolls to turn into fish and an octopus for the Rainbow Fish display at work.

This afternoon I had the longest, scrubbiest, shaviest, shower since getting out of hospital on Monday & feel much better for getting rid of all the dead skin I couldn't scrub off before because everything was sensitive. The girls dad sorted cheesy garlic spuds and salad to go with the gammon while I was in there & it was lush.

Now I'm going to relax & idly browse sandals online before I head for another fairly early night 💤 Not very exciting but definitely much needed!
