I've logged calories for past 2 weeks and been 1,000 daily deficit both weeks. I've jogged for 30 minutes 3 times each week. Have I lost weight ....no, no I haven't.

This cant be right. Presumably Im some kind of x-man?

Also, don't know if I'm stating the obvious here, but are you weighing at the same time? I'm about 4lb heavier this time of night than I am first thing in the morning

EatingWormsMichael · 26/05/2023 21:08

Yeah I see that it's low calorie but also lacking nutrition. But I love carbs and chocolate frogs. Boo hoo.

I desperately weighing at random times to see if its suddenly budged. I decided Friday morning would be optimum weigh in time - but same old number flashed up

Wow really @Cockle1234? I'd be thrilled if I was 4lb lighter if I just waited a bit!

Take a critical look at the nutritional value of what you're eating, you'll make yourself feel crap if you keep on with low calorie but high sugar because you'll be hungry, tired and chasing more sugar.

Also take measurements. Scales are capricious little bastards, they go up and down for loads and no reasons in a seemingly unfathomable manner. I can weigh heavy today, eat crap and be lighter tomorrow, or weigh light, eat like a bird and put weight on overnight 🤷‍♀️

Weightloss is a long game, you have to look at the trends over weeks and weeks. If you stick to your calorie limit (and eat some veg) and keep hydrated then you will lose weight.

I've attached a graph of a 100 day weigh in challenge I did a couple of years ago.yo7 can see that my weight changed by up to 2 lb a day , obviously I wasn't losing or gaining 2lb in 24 hrs, but the overall trend was down.

.

A beautiful example of monthly gain and loss pattern.

Choose a set day of your cycle and weigh for comparison then. All the other measurements are an interesting exercise in tracking how much water retention you have to deal with.

Eggs for breakfast, pretty much ever day. Can have with spinach, some tomato, make into a omelette etc.

Protein smoothie for snack, fruit or yoghurt. Don't go for half fat yoghurt, use the calories to keep yourself full.

Protein, loads of veg for dinner.

Boiled egg, ham, prawns for snacks.

You need to lessen the cardio a bit and get strength training. It's changed my life!! I lost 12kg last year (dropped two dress sizes) and I've kept the weight off.

Cockle1234 · 26/05/2023 21:39

My weigh ins are all straight out of bed, loo, clothes off, weigh. It's the only way I can track properly. When I get to goal weight I aim for evening goal weight and only then I'll start weighing at night 😆 I also do it in kgs, because it comes off so painfully slowly in the 'healthy BMI' zone and I still get to see numbers reducing rather than waiting for a whole lb. I'm not advocating weighing every day but I do when I'm in the zone and I can usually see a 0.1 drop each day (except when I've been on the freddos, or the wine 🍷). Good luck, play the long game

Yay protein. Yay vegetables.
Boo sugar. Boo empty calories.

I am not keen on calorie counting personally. If you eat the right things at meals your body won’t be screaming out for snacks so it is so much easier if you are focusing on putting good things into your body rather than small portions of bad things.

OP hasn't said she is tired or hungry.
The difference in calorie absorption that high/low fibre content makes is small, like max 5-10%.

2 lb weight loss over 3 weeks = 7000 kcal, or ~333/day.
PP said to maintain your weight you should be eating 1667 calories per day

1667 - 333 is still >> 1118 OP reported.

I'm very curious how you get on OP, I hope you update this thread once in a while.

I have lost 5lbs in two weeks as I read an article about this woman walking 5 miles a day and only eating chicken, rice, veg. She lost 2 stone in 8 weeks and has lnt put it back on in two years. As I was loosing weight at all 2 weeks ago I was actually ridiculously upset about it I was looking up stories in the internet and came across that one. I have bought these expensive fast 800 shakes have one for lunch at work, changed to a boiled egg for breakfast or just berries and then dinner has been lots of stir frys or did a casserole and I have been some carbs at that point so noodles, rice or jersey potatoes but just everything is smaller portioned. I have found my stomach has shrunk and I can't really eat it all or I am not thinking about food like I was. My friend advised to drink so much more water than I was which I think gas helped. I have not managed 5 miles a day but probably 4 and minimum 3. I do floor exercises as well so legs l, sit ups etc. In the morning before everyone gets up. I have nice places to walk where I am so that helps. I have had occasional chocolate or joined the kids with a hot dog on a white roll but I had only had the milkshake that day and been for 3 mile walk so for me the exercise is key.
