This has not yet been peer reviewed, but the evidence looks pretty strong: the shingles vaccine may prevent a large minority of dementia cases in women (although it seems to have no effect in men). Fingers crossed that this turns out to be true - and in the mean time, do get a shingles vaccine if you are eligible; apart from anything else, it's a horrid painful illness, and is especially a problem for post-menopausal women who are more prone to it than men.
