World Museum in the centre of Liverpool, next to Walker Art Gallery - I loved it as a child, and my DC loved it too!

The dockside museums and world museums were a hit. Although you may want to avoid slavery museum depending on how sensitive your dc are.
Open top bus was great.
The youth hostel was great as its near the dockside, can have meals or self cater, games for evening and a bar. We watched the Olympics there once with people from all over the world the kids loved it.
Lots of places to eat out too in the shopping area.

I went with my DD (10) last year and also stayed in the YHA Albert Dock - well recommended. The City Museum at the dockside was excellent as was the World museum. We also spent a brief time doing kids activities at the Walker Art Gallery.
We did the ferry across the Mersey round trip and for something different hopped on the bus to a nearby trampoline park which was well worth it.
Lots of food outlets at Albert Dock and Liverpool one where the shopping is excellent and we enjoyed wandering around Mathew street in the evening for the atmosphere.

Depending on how much time you have Speke hall is a short distance away and a good day out for children , interesting old house , and plenty of outside space , you can take a walk with views of the Mersey , good places for picnic , or out to see the statues at Crosby beach

lots to do in the city centre , museums , Albert dock , up the radio city tower for great views , football tours if that’s their thing , ferry cross the Mersey , lots of places to eat bold street particularly good with a very laid d back vibe .
plays and music sometimes in the ‘ bombed out church ‘ top of bold street . Nice to sit and have a drink there
you will need a few trips to
fit it all in

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2023 19:37

Oh yes, how could I forget the ferry and the Liver birds!

Admittedly with older kids, but pottering around Port Sunlight (over the river) was lovely on a sunny day.

Ferry across the mersey
Williamson tunnels (esp if dr who fans)

The Liver Building 360 tour
Quirky quarter
Liverpool FC museum
Ferry across the Mersey
Liverpool One shopping (for cafes & restaurants too)
It's a fab city & you probably won't have time for the Iron Men at Crosby beach or Formby beach.

Have fun!
