Has anyone’s kids done this and was it fun? I got a virgin experience day voucher so am thinking about booking this with it for the kids but wondering whether it is over too quickly and whether it is too scary.

It's over very quickly - minutes. A few minutes.

My DS (9) did it for his birthday at Bear Grylls. He loved it! He did 2 x 2/3 minute "flights" but they charge extra if you want to go all the way to the top of the wind tunnel. He wasn't scared though.

We did this with an 11 year old. He was frightened to join in but loved it in the end.

We took my daughter age 6 because I was going for a bit of tunnel time to improve my body position for skydiving. She hated it! It's very expensive, very loud, and quite scary in there for a child when you're looking down at the huge fan with just a net keeping you separate. If your child is over 12 I think they'd love it, but before then it depends on the child.

We have taken our daughter a few times - aged 7/8. She loves it, but then her biggest wish is to be able to fly.

We take our son all the time, he's 4 and a half now but has been in the tunnel since he was almost 3. He loves it.

It helps that my husband and I skydive so we go regularly to practise technique etc.

It's a great experience though, I see no reason not to give it a go!

Thanks all - I was just wondering, is it over so quickly that it is barely worth it?

If you get a couple of minutes you will do approx 30secs at a time. You will be in a group and be waiting for your turn. Also, you get your suit and equipment before you fly and do a little bit of training. Throw in a lunch and it definitely feels like a day out (or half a day). I use a different company than ifly so not sure of their exact set up but I'm sure it's similar?

DC1 has gone to one for her friend’s birthday. She loved it. She was in Year 7. I agree with a PP this is for more secondary aged children or older.

As in for a younger child, if you have doubts about noise and scariness, then don’t do it. It’s very expensive and over on a flash.
