"Rescue" animals

I've seen on here recently posts about a contract that you sign when you get a rescue animal, stipulating, for example, that a cat has to remain indoor, or that you can't rehome or pts without permission from the rescue. I've also seen this about animals bought from breeders. Is there any legal basis to these contracts?

I rescued a horse from the rspca. I had to have a home check after 6 months and I had to have the page in his passport signed to say he couldn't be eaten in the future. Which was a shame as he looks rather tasty

My Romanian dog has a double microchip so he is registered both to me and to the rescue he came from. If for any reason I needed to rehome him, I would have them to help me, and I would trust them to find the best home they could for him. We also have lifetime rescue backup for behavioural issues etc. and emergency foster if I had to go into hospital or something.

I don't know if they could enforce it, it's interesting! My mum had a rescue dog whose coat wasn't supposed to be clipped in the agreement but she did as it was so long.

Why would you be so interested in if it's legally binding? Sounds weird to me.
