My understanding of energy usage in the home is that there are some appliances that use more electricity/energy than others and those appliances are typically ones that heat up
For example
Tumble dryer
Washing machine
Kettle
Heaters
What temperature are you guys washing laundry at?
I was clothing at 30 degrees. Socks and under at 40 degrees.
My mother has failed to respond to the energy crisis and she's doing the majority of washing in the machine at 60 degrees. She can do one or two washes a day at 60 degrees. I live at home with her and I am paying the bills so it does concern me. I think a 40 degree wash should be OK. Even last summer she decided to pull out everything from the linen cupboard and freshen everything up by rewashi g it all again and there were several loads of 60 degree washes done. They were all line dried with airing in the tumble drier for about 20 minutes per load. It really seems as if she does fully comprehend the energy crisis and the inflation and rising costs.
I know a lot of people scared of the bills and she's using everything with no care in the world. Even lights on in the middle of the day. TV and radio on in rooms that she's not in.
Is 60 degrees too much now days? Or wilk it be OK on the bill. I think 40 would have been OK. She's washing towels.
