How much of a rear-end collision to go through insurance?

As the title really.
Just been hit several times by a car. Driver has admitted they went for the accelerator, three times, as I stopped because the lights ahead turned red.
So, low speed, repeated collision. Car looks drivable - and I've driven it home. Bumper not dented, but has a load of hairline cracks.
Does it need looking at by a garage to see if there is hidden dammage? Phone the insurance?? Or just forget about it?

If there is visible damage with cracks and dents and you were driven into then absolutely go through insurance. You have details, right? This is a fairly clear cut not your fault accident. There may be bigger damage you can’t see and if anything else happens in the future and you haven’t told your insurance then it’s void.

If there’s a dent it doesn’t sound super super low speed. And it happened 3 times. I have been driven into before at very very low speed with not a single mark to either car and not gone through insurance because of busy life circumstances - child in hospital. But for this I would.

Yeah, I've got a name, number plate and rough address - I know where the house is, but couldn't give an address. And I fully know it wasn't my fault.

There is no dent. But yes to cracks. Just seems a bit OTT to phone insurance, as visibly it looks OK. But I just don't know what's happened underneath, or what might happen if it was to be hit again.

Right, I'll phone insurance. Thank you.

Get it reported. Could be any kind of damage to the sub frame. What do you mean, 'rough' address? They couldn't give you their address???

A taxi went into the back of me at traffic lights. It did something to the axle. You need to get it out and go through insurance.

"Rough address" meaning the yellow house next to Hill Farm sort of address- so I could drive there, but couldn't write a letter.

Reported online to the insurance.

Slightly away from your question, but how on earth did they hit you three times?!

Repeated appplication of foot to accelerator?!
I was a bit shakey afterwards, and more bothered about DS being ok than their story.

Low speed collision in queued traffic when a new driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake - looked like nothing until I got home, opened the hatchback and couldn't close it. Car was buckled underneath amd written off. Definitely contact your insurers and get your car checked.

From what you say it wasn't an accident. They repeatedly rammed your car because you delayed their journey.

That's dangerous driving and should be reported to the police, if they rammed you, they would probably do the same to a cyclist or a child on a bike.

Why on earth didn't you phone 999?

Depending on the vehicle, a cracked bumper may be nothing, or it may be enough to write off the vehicle.

There could be damage to the subframe or axles, transmission, who knows.

You let a dangerous driver get away.

I really hope they don't kill someone after you had a chance to stop them.
