What does an initial assessment for ADHD entail?

Hi

my daughter has a neurodevelopmental assessment. It says that the assessment is an hour and a full developmental history will be taken

has anyone been through this? What does it entail?

i’m concerned as my daughter can get very anxious and hates anyone talking about her (especially anything she sees as criticism) so will probably find it very difficult

Lots of paperwork and questions.
When I say lots of paperwork I mean 2 30+ page questionairs. Depending on your dds age it will be 1 lot for you and 1 lot for your dd or all for you.
They will score your/your dds answers and do the same for the school then compare the results and scores if they fall below the threshold for further investigation it will be ended there and then if its above then she will have further investigations for adhd or be transferred over to the asd pathway (if the results are indicative of asd).
A good assessor will have already scored the schools paperwork and will do the same with yours/your dds and tell you then and there if further assessment is required or not others won't and will send you out the information later

Thanks

i already filled out a massive questionnaire a year ago - will they use that or do you think it would be a new one?

If its a year+ old they will probably have you repeat the questionnaire as the result won't be up to date.
They seem to really like the questionnaires as we (school, ds 😪and i) have to fill them out for every medication review (roughly every 6 months)

In my experience, IQ test, WISC test, other assessments, lots of questionnaires for the parent, questionnaire for the school (if relevant), interview and discussion. Also consideration of other issues such as ASD and learning disorders, etc. Quite comprehensive. I'm not sure if others do them differently but this is my experience.
