Lifting weights 5 days a week. Diet is ok, I try to eat lots of protein, aim for about 120g a day but often miss meals because I’m busy with 2 small children. Definitely don’t eat over 2000 calories. What am I missing????

Do you listen to podcasts?

If yes, the recent Zoe science and nutrition on protein is interesting. There’s a lot of misinformation about how much protein we need and excess is converted into fat just like any other macro.

Saying that, I’m a naturally heavy person with muscular legs even when I’m not working out a lot.

You are replacing fat with muscle so your weight will rise if you exercise. On average 1 litre of fat weighs 0.9kg and 1 litre of muscle 1.1kg.

You're breastfeeding. Your body knows what it's doing. Give it until you stop bf and then see what happens.

Also, this 💯

No need to run if you don’t like it, there’s plenty more cardio options than running. I recommend HIIT, it’s quick, different movements so doesn’t get boring, and you can do it from home (loads of good videos on YouTube). If you don’t like running you won’t keep it up, I know, I’ve started and stopped running so many times!

This.

You aren't supposed to diet while you are breastfeeding are you? You are keeping fit and looking after you health, leave it at that for now.

Bodies and metabolisms change as you get older, the whole thing is so complex.

Due to various reasons my regime went out of the window the last 2 years and I'm now getting back into it again and have a stone to lose. I haven't lost any weight since January, but my clothes are falling off me, and that's the most important thing.

Very much this. I used to run a lot but as I’ve got older, I found it too hard on my knees. I now do a lot of HIIT, spin and weights based classes and really enjoy it.

It's so clear from this thread and others, some people don't have a fucking clue what they're talking about!

Michael Mosley has sold a lot of books explaining in great detail how eating 800kcals will quickly cause weight loss.

Michael Mosley is a publicity-seeking hypochondriac who trades on his medical qualifications. He’s very good at selling his message and trading on the latest fad; doesn’t mean it’s any good for you. Especially if you’re nowhere near obese.

You are quite a lot overweight OP. I know technically you’re just slightly into the Overweight category in terms of BMI. But BMI is about health - you won’t look slim at the top end of what’s classed as normal BMI. At 5ft 6 you’ll probably need to get down to about 9st to look slim, which means losing 2st.

Odfod.

He doesnt have any medical qualifications I think. The fast 800 was fantastic for my OH with diabetes and for me without, but hes not a medical doctor. His wife is I believe.

Oh mate. No. Just no. I'm at the top of healthy BMI. I carry very little fat. I am really quite fit and have well defined muscle. I'm actually 3kg heavier than when this photo was taken but have less body fat and much better muscle definition.

I like that @ShowOfHands has posted a picture. Yes you can be at the top of BMI and v slim if you have muscle.

I weighed 10st at 5ft 1" before and wore a size 8 with a 26 inch waist. Weight and BMI doesn't mean much if you lift weights

My brother is slim (man's size S) but counts as obese in BMI terms because of muscle
