Late night eating...

Just chatting to my friend online and said that I was going to bed soon, but I'd had a very early dinner, so I wanted something to eat. She asked what, and I said I'd got an orange, a pear and a cup of tea. She's now asking how I could possibly sleep after eating fruit late at night! Is that weird, and what would you have?

I've had chocolate before bed. Didn't do me any harm and slept fine still. 😅 fruit is perfectly fine

When I was pregnant, I used to have a second dinner just before bed so I didn't wake up hungry/feeling sick in the night.

Weird. Does she mean the acid would give her heartburn? It's more likely the caffeine in the tea would keep me up.

When I was pregnant with DC1 I would frequently wake up in the night and be unable to sleep until I'd had a bowl of cereal or similar.

Obviously it's very common to snack in the evening. I'd say 2 pieces of fruit and a cup of tea before bed is a bit unusual but surely you don't care what anyone else thinks about your snack selections...?

CurlewKate · 20/05/2023 23:53

@BlameItOnTheGoose No, of course I don't care! I just never thought of fruit keeping you awake, and she insists it is a "thing". I've just told her it's because she's French and has a delicate constitution.....
