On 20 May 2023 the Conservatives will have been in power for as long as New Labour were from 1997‑2010. Who do you think achieved more during their time in office ?

Just that really.
Interested in contribution from both sides too.

Labour did lie to the public and lead Britain into war. Weapons of mass destruction anyone? That was quite a spectacular achievement. 😢

For me personally, I was better off under the labour government. The tax credits and support for families came at a time when I had young children so it really helped us as a low earning family. I realise these all had wider implications for the economy as a whole, but for me they stopped us from struggling each month (and still do - although my youngest children are almost adults now so won't be getting them much longer).

I think the austerity years have pushed many into poverty as wages haven't kept pace with cost of living. It feels like things are bleak in the country right now rather than prospering and full of hope for the future. I don't think I've felt quite like this about things since becoming an adult.

They've achieved very little apart from destruction and personal enrichment.

The Tories that is.

Labour started well until they got bogged down with foreign wars and then the global financial crash. They were a letdown ultimately and didn't change enough and continued too much of what Thatcher started and rolled little of it back.
