Nearly 4 year old STILL waking every night!

Any words of wisdom of how I can stop my child from shouting for us every time he wakes up?!
We've told him not to call for us if he needs a drink (can reach it himself) or if he needs tucking in (can pull the duvet up himself) but still, nearly every night, he wakes once or twice or more and screams for us. (He doesn't come into our room as can't reach the handle to open the door).
Any tips on what I can do to stop these frequent wake ups (also have a baby too who wakes so it's something we could do without after 4 years nearly!)

Sorry, no trued and trusted methods but it does stop. Dd was year 2. Not the best news but she's an independent adult now

Probably not the best method but I shouted at DS1, and told him there was no was we were doing "exciting activity for pre schoolers" the next day as I was to tired after a spectacularly bad night. He didn't disturb us the next night, and proudly announced I wasn't tired today, so we could do X.......

I still don't think he sleeps through now, aged 14, but he doesn't wake the rest of the house.

I'd go for explanation "before 6am, everyone else wants to sleep, so you need to sort out the problem, or rest quietly in bed". Plus bribery - 10 days of not waking Mummy gets a prize - I seem to think we had Thomas jigsaw.
Then 10 consecutive nights.....
Puke, blood and poo are exceptions.

He’s 3 op. He’s still very little. Yes he can 100% do those things but it’s dark and scary in the night and he maybe just needs reassurance your there? I have 3 DD’s. My oldest was never like that but my middle (she’s 3) is. She is getting better now I’d say. We leave the door open and she comes through for a cuddle and then will go back to bed. It used to be shouting for a drink. Covers etc. it’s not every night anymore either. It’s very hard when your exhausted I know but he will get bigger and then not need you quite so much.
