London - one night, train strike

Thanks to the train strike on 31 May I'll be in London staying near in the city that night after a work meeting. I was thinking of meeting up with a friend after work and going for dinner, but that's not going happen as friend will be wfh due to the train strike...

So I'd like to plan some things to do on my tod. I'd quite like some Korean food and perhaps to go the theatre/a show. I'll be free from 5.30pm. Any suggestions or recommendations? I'm happy to walk places. I like art, museums, etc if anywhere's open in the evening. I'm also mindful that a train strike might mean places aren't open as usual.

It would help if you told us which part of London you will be in so that we can give suggestions.

If you were out in the suburbs, I'd suggest going to New Malden for Korean food.

I have done - the city. It's in my OP. Close to St Paul's.

Madison at One New Change is a nice rooftop bar with views over St Pauls, as is Sabine.

There is a Korean street food place near St Pauls called On the Bab. Not sure if it opens in the evenings though and it is more of a cafe than a restaurant. Korean Dinner Party in Soho is fun. Koba in Rathbone Place, the opposite side of Oxford St to Soho. Both are just a few stops on the Central Line from St Pauls.

I can't think of any galleries that are open late on a Wednesday. The immersive art experience places will be open in the evenings. There is a Van Gogh one in Spitalfields, so not too far or one by Marble Arch if you are going to Soho. Not sure if you would count them as "art" though.

You mean the City rather than the city. The capital C matters (as you've seen from an earlier response).

Everything will be open as usual (there are 9 million people living in London) although areas around train stations will be quieter (pleasantly so!). The tube and Overground will be running as usual.

Good bets for Korean food within easy walking distance of St Paul's are Jin's Kitchen near Holborn and On The Bab near Old Street.

Thanks for Korean food recommendations.
And for correcting me...
I'm aware it's a big city, but I think some shows, etc were affected by past train strikes because the staff and performers couldn't get in. I may be wrong though.

If you are flexible about what you want to see you could download the ‘Today Tickets’ ap and get some good last minute deals - normally you have to log on at 10am on the day and see what is available

A couple of theatres were affected by the strikes last year but that's primarily because the tube was affected as well as trains. Just trains this time.
