Instagram Question - Watching Stories.

I'm a total novice at Instagram so forgive my stupid questions!

I watched someone's story. They don't follow me. I don't follow them. Will they be able to see that I've watched it?

If so, how do they know? Do they get a notification?
If I didn't watch the story to the end, would they still know I'd watched it?

Yes, they will know. But they shouldn't get a notification, they'd have to actively look at who has viewed their story.

Yes they’ll know. They won’t get notified specifically but they can click on their story and it will tell them how many viewers they’ve had and who they are. Even if you’ve not watched it to the end.

If it's a problem you can go on their profile and block them for 48hrs you'll not appear on their viewers list. Viewers lists are available for 48hrs after the story is posted.

@treespouse So if I watch a story then immediately block that person, they won't ever know I've watched the story even if they go searching for who's watched it. Is that right?!

Correct! But if they do search for your profile they'll notice you've blocked them and maybe wonder why ha!

I think there are websites you can use to view stories, people seem to use them on Tattle when Instagram mars have blocked them 🤣
