Tranexamic acid for holiday?

Has anyone taken this before and has it worked well? Looking at Norethisterone from one of the online pharmacists like Lloyds, but worried about side effects.

I used to be on microgynon but it made me feel crazy and have terrible mood swings. Will this be the same? Would it give bloating/swollen boobs? (Also, periods are never exact on the day so not sure how I can be sure to take it exactly three days before.)

Any tips, please? Thanks in advance x

T acid is not hormonal, so does not cause those sorts of side effects. It also doesn't stop your period, just slows it down.

It slows down blood flow, for example, is used after surgery of a patient is bleeding too much.

This means that there are other potential risks, especially if you're flying to your holiday I'd be checking the patient information or with a doctor about increased risks of dvt, and any personal contraindications because of your age, weight, other medical conditions, or prescriptions your use.

Hth.

I've been on tranexamic acid for a number of years. It helps by reducing your flow during your period. In my experience (and that is all I have) my flow will reduce to a trickle but I get massive clots instead.

Are you looking at using this regularly? If you are you really need to be under the supervision of your GP/nurse. At first my GP limited me to only using it for 3 days during my period (not before) but after explaining that my periods last for 2 weeks, we worked together to find the best way forward.
I now have a repeat prescription for 56 tablets every month. I don't always need that many.

The other thing you need to be aware of is that tranexamic acid is used by paramedics at the roadside to stop major bleeding - I have to have it clearly marked on my records and have to inform any medics treating me.

All of that said I personally find it a great help. It has helped me to manage my periods so much better although I still can't wait to hit the menopause and the bloody things stop!!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do op.

Forgot to mention that you can get medication to delay your period completely. It's available on prescription and my sister has used it several times over the years and said that it works a treat.

Would this not be better with the flying?
