Tax return without P45!

Scarletthoo2 · 16/05/2023 21:58

Having to do a self assessment tax return and I appeared to have misplaced my p45! Any ideas what I can do about this as I know HMRC do not issue replacements. Really worried as I've never lost a P45 before and can't seem to find it. What other alternatives do I have?

Do you have your last payslip? Will have the same details

Do you have your payslips?

Would your former employer have kept a copy?

Would your former employer have kept a copy?

In all honesty, probably not. They were an unorganised company

If you have all of your payslips for that period, you can just add them together manually and it's the same 😊 bit of a pain if your employer doesn't keep copies!

Why do you need a p45? That's for starting a new job.

Unless you're in the middle of changing jobs or have been unemployed for some time, you need either a p60 (which usually get sent out around June) or your payslips from April 2022 to March 2023.

Oblomov23 · 16/05/2023 22:06

What month did you actually leave? Your last payslip has all the totals-to-date on it.

PurpleMoonbows · 17/05/2023 14:43

The figures should be on the last payslip as Pay to date and Tax to date. You won't get a P60 if you left prior to the end of the tax year but if you want to check you have the right figures, register online to access your personal tax account (Google personal tax account) with HMRC and you can then see your PAYE in info, national insurance history and state pension forecast.

As above, the figures will also be on your last payslip.
