Council tax £307.01 for the whole year, what the?

I've just moved into a property in a new area and set up my council tax account. It's band C.

When I received my first bill it stated that the bill for the year is £1637 minus £409 (single persons discount) so the total amount for the year = £1228.04

I had an update on my CT account this afternoon and they have changed the yearly bill from £1228.04 to £307.01 which has surprised and confused me in equal measure. My next bill has gone from £140 to £35

I'm a single parent to a disabled child - is that the reason or has somebody made a massive error on their side? By the time I read the email it was too late to call, but I will tomorrow.

I've just been through the rigmarole of switching my universal credit to this address and had to complete an additional form to prove why my DC needs his own bedroom which they've agreed on and signed off, so might that be the reason?

@CTQ glad you have got it sorted. Each local council have their own localised scheme. So depending on your councils scheme you may have nothing to pay.

for example our scheme is no matter what a persons income they the max ct support is 75% of the bull after all discounts/exemptions are applied so everyone will have some ctax to pay (unless they are a pensioner).
@Lizzt2007 UC has replaced housing benefit (exempt for a small amount of exempt accommodations and pensioners). For working age housing costs are paid through UC.

There are £0 bills but I'm not totally sure what the full grounds are but my MiL had Alzheimer's and had 2 live in carers, they didn't need to pay anything.
