Neighbor Staring at me

Polaa · 16/05/2023 18:35

Hi all, this may sound a bit odd, but recently I have noticed my neighbor is always at his window staring directly into my flat. I live on a main high street above some stores and he is on the opposite side at the same level.

I get up at the same time each morning and usually sit at the window with a coffee. For the last 4 weeks he's been standing there at the exact time I open my blinds staring directly at my window. It's making me very uncomfortable. Also 2 nights ago someone rang my flat intercom at 2am (probably not related, but I'm freaking out a bit.)

Realistically I know there's nothing I can do, but how would you feel in this situation. Am I over reacting?

Get some of that film on yoir Windows which allows you to see out but nobody can see I

Chowtime · 16/05/2023 18:45

Vision Blinds are good for this. You can see out and the light can get in but people can't see in.

Polaa · 16/05/2023 18:46

I've never heard of these before!

keep a diary and make a note when it is happening. Also maybe log it with non-emergency police number just in case.

It's not illegal to stare out your window at the same time every day, which happens to be the same time a neighbour drinks coffee whilst staring out her own window.

Privacy film if it bothers you OP.

tescocreditcard · 16/05/2023 19:28

The police don't keep logs of men who stare at women Shock

snowbellsxox · 16/05/2023 19:30

Yes it's strange do you live alone?

And people wonder why the police are too stretched to deal with actual crime. Jesus h Christ

…..and whenever he looks out of his window the woman across the street is staring at him.

Yes I thought this! The OP appears to say he's already stood there looking out when she opens her blinds!

Maybe he likes watching the world go by with his first coffee as well!

SpongeBabeSquarePants · 16/05/2023 20:04

I had this. We used to call him 'naked guy', lol. I bought the semi opaque blinds and it stopped him looking in.

Truestorypeeps · 16/05/2023 20:08

Our resident crazy neighbour just proclaims, "I'll look wherever I want to look!!!" when asked to stop staring. Very odd seeing as they hate everyone and everything, why would they stare at the people they claim to dislike? I certainly don't want to look at them!

PollyAmour · 16/05/2023 20:09

Don't log it with the police, get some blinds as mentioned already. He might think you are staring at him!

MrsMenmen · 16/05/2023 20:12

Is it possible her thinks your looking at him?

Sounds exactly the story in a film I just watched, I cannot remember the name though...

Usetherightgearforthehill · 16/05/2023 20:15

Poor guys just having his morning coffee by his window each morning, and now all of a sudden there's a woman staring at him every morning a few minutes later and then there's a visit from the police...

Privacy film is the way forward not the police

thefamous5 · 16/05/2023 20:17

As my mum always says 'you must be looking at him to see that he's looking at you'

The film is called Watcher id probably not recommend you watch it but I would assume he's also enjoying his early morning look at the world outside

user50316 · 16/05/2023 20:36

The privacy film sounds a good idea.
Just to say though that I've been on the other side of this. I had a girl come banging on the door shouting that I'd been staring at her etc and I was of course completely baffled. I'd never seen her before in my life but apparently she lived at the back of my house.
I closed the door on her and then realised the next morning that my work desk was by the window and it would have looked from the outside that I was looking out of the window when I was actually just sat at my laptop working.

Quite.
How come the OP is allowed to look out of her window but the poor fucker across the road isn't?
@betaglucans don't be so ridiculous.
