I am very house proud clean and organised however I know its clean and tidy I get very anxious on my mind that I still have lots of mess and clutter lying around and the feeling of too much stuff yet I am very minimalistic. Im hoping to here others which may distract my mind

I used to be very house proud. I now don't let anyone in I'm so embarrassed over my home - I get extremely fatigued with health issues and just can't handle keeping on top like I used to.

Slowly just getting everything binned so I don't need to clear it up. Marie Kondo helps though I don't have the energy anymore

Depends on the day but it’s generally tidy enough and clean ish and nothing that a quick 20 minutes won’t sort out. Unless you open drawers and cupboards… dear god some of those are horrific.

HolyFuckerRooney · 16/05/2023 13:34

Mines clean and tidy
I'm happy to let people in whatever it looks like though

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 16/05/2023 13:39

Generally clean and tidy, my office is a hideous bomb site though.

It’s a mixture. I am currently mid decluttering but have been for about three years! Maybe I will just always have a hall full of crap.

Mines clean and tidy , we don’t have loads of clutter . We do have lots of Lego ( adult stuff) but it’s mainly in Lego showcases . The lounge floor usually looks a bit dishevelled because I have an elderly dog who has a pile of various bits of dead animal , mainly ostrich and lots of fluffy toys that he likes to leave around .

I'm ususally happy to let people in unannounced so I guess its reasonably clean and tidy- The kitchen surfaces are wiped several times a day, I usually hoover and mop daily downstairs( 2x adults, 4xkids, 2xcats, a dog create messy bits!!) I also bleach wipe the toilet and sink daily..., a few cupboards are always a bit chaotic and the utility room hides a laundrette-baskets of clean but unfolded washing is endless so thats my downfall, I just close the door on that room!

I live in a clean and tidy home but it would also be deemed on MN as "cluttered" as I have a lot of ornaments/knick knacks on display. Everything has a place, nothing is left out that shouldn't be. But I like a lot of things on display. It makes me happy.

My home is actually super organised. My food cupboards are full of baskets with foods grouped together. Cupboards have fabric organiser's inside. A lot of the drawers have draw organisers.

I get a bit annoyed at the presumption that stuff = mess/dirt and minimalism = clean/tidy. I only work PT (and from home) so I can easily keep on top of things.

I can, I can make do and put up with it being messy but there are five people in this house and it being cluttered seems to give everyone license to leave their stuff abandoned anywhere around the house - so a bit messy can become wildly chaotic within a few days. So I keep it organised, clean and tidy so that everyone else will toe the line.

DH is very clean and tidy, I am not. To me it looks too clean and tidy and when he's away I leave more evidence of life. To him it looks borderline messy and when I'm away he polishes the potatoes.

I've had severe RA 25yrs, most of my adult life, it means that I prioritise things according to need as I do not have the energy to do anything more or risk breaking myself and sometimes I cannot even do that because my body isn't playing ball.
Our house is clean but definitely not immaculate and I've learned to live with that.
Everyone has to pitch in and that means it's definitely not perfect but it's enough.
It's helped that we have enough room to have a separate family room so the clutter of toys can (generally) be contained in there, the door closed and we can sit in a different room as adults without the peril of Lego on the floor.

wildfirewonder · 16/05/2023 14:07

Mine is organised but crumpled and lived in.

I don't really care about a few bits here and there.

It wouldn't occur to me to care what a visitor thought.

Same here. I have loads of knick knacks. But they have their place.

My house is clean and tidy. I havent done the organisers in the cupboards yet, but Im this close! Im forever reorganising the pantry!

Yesterday I reorganised my perfumes and nail polishes, which live inside my wardorbe on fabric organisers! It gave me so much pleasure!!!!

I could have an unannounced guest right now and Id be happy for them to see my place. (apart from my lodgers room. Thats likely to be a tip, but she keeps her door closed, so thats fine)

Ours is a home, not a show home.
It's "lived in" and life can be messy sometimes.

But there is always good food, good conversation, music, beer and games. So take us or leave us. We couldn't care less.

As a disclaimer I am the tidy one!
