Small present ideas for 6 year old girl

It's DD's birthday quite soon. She's getting a new bike, but I would like her to have a couple of small things from us to open. Quite keen for an actual toy or game rather than craft supplies as she has plenty of the latter. She has plenty of Lego and my mum has bought her a Barbie, so neither of those. She likes science and maths, but I think a coding-type toy (which she would love) would be a bit OTT on top of a bike. Just looking for something fun and small. Any ideas would be most welcome!

One of those mini science kits. Grow your own crystal, build your own lava lamp etc
Card game (rather than a board game) like double, uno, brain box, to bean or not to bean, none of a kind

MiniStormInATeacup · 15/05/2023 12:38

Have you got Uno? My Dd loves this game and it's nice and small and can travel. Or perhaps Dobble?

Or maybe a Galt Science Kit? They do a few we have one from DD birthday which hasn't been used yet - usual issue of too much all at once alongside Christmas so I hid it away for later this year to do.

How about some outfits to go with the Barbie. For some reason Barbie clothes are pretty expensive and hard to get so getting some to go with a new Barbie would be cool.

DD likes those dig in block of plaster to find things activities. National geographic do one with bits of fossil, or gem stones.

Board games are a bit hit and miss, she is still learning about losing well, but we have one of these which is good - everyone wins or everyone loses so good to intersperse with normal board games for a bit of a rest if she's struggling but still wants to play. https://www.steamrocket.co.uk/collections/peaceable-kingdom?gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsIejBhDOARIsANYqkD2Fiutt7xxC_OMCykkem0pCmYQEtAo5axkKtIf0U3XAJPKDprCqVY0aAiamEALw_wcB

My 6 year old likes this maths based game

My eldest DD is 6 soon as well, she's getting a karaoke machine for her main present but like you I wanted her to have a few extra little bits as well. A couple of things we've gotten her include a Crayola tracing pad, a Rainbow Magic A-Z of Fairies book (she loves those books and will probably spend hours looking through the encyclopedia), and a fluffy notebook she's been drooling over for the past few weeks.

Also I went to Claires where they usually have a 5 for £5 sale on and got her loads of sparkly or cute stationary, but a lot of the time it includes soft toys, jewellery and fidget toys as well.

Thank you! The board games look good. Her grandparents have got her a couple of science kits so I think she is covered there. Thank you all.

DD is 6, she loves this game called sushi go where you have to collect cute sushi with faces - it's a card game so nice and small.

Flower press
Magformers
Kids binoculars
Lottie doll
Baking set

TheWildOnesRunningWithTheDogs · 15/05/2023 14:35

@AuntieJune I like the sound of the sushi game!

My soon to be 6 year old loves the unicorn version of hungry hippos https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/games-puzzles-and-books/board-games/preschool-board-games/hungry-hungry-hippos-unicorn-edition/p/189636

Because it’s quite a quick game the win/lose thing doesn’t seem to cause as much upset as with other board games, it’s really easy to just have another go.

The book How many jelly beans? is great for kids who like numbers.

What about the caterpillars that turn into butterflies at home? Costs £20 - not sure if it is your budget!

Climbles · 15/05/2023 14:53

Marble run, if she likes big play and Sylvanian families, if she’s more into small world play

Marmite27 · 15/05/2023 14:55

Polly Pockets for sure, they have a giant piñata one on Amazon for £20-is at the moment, it comes in Unicorn or Llama, or Smyths have the Flamingo version. RRP is supposedly £45, it’s totally not worth that, but a good buy at £10.

Mine are also into Gabby’s Doll house, so the little figures from that.

They’ve played with a marble run lots recently too.

Marmite27 · 15/05/2023 14:56

FFS, a good buy at £20

TheWildOnesRunningWithTheDogs · 15/05/2023 15:02

@SBAM the jelly bean book looks cute but might be a bit simple for her - she is a maths nerd who woke me up the other day to tell me she'd worked out all the prime numbers up to 100. And she had! She loves Murderous Maths, though.
