Who are you other than “mummy”?

Just thought this would be a nice Sunday thread.

Of course being mummy to someone is great but it isn’t anyone’s entire identity even though it’s easy to get swept up in familial life!

So share your interests/achievements/something fun about yourself!

I loved playing piano for hours when I had the time. I taught myself by listening to songs for hours until I got it right. I ended up quite good.
I enjoy spending time with me and my cats in bed having a good cuddle and giving them lots of attention!
and my biggest achievement I think was surviving domestic violence and being the strong person I am now.

I asked myself this same question over the weekend as my only son wad staying with his grandparents, I felt a bit unemployed.
I'm a daughter, sister, wife, servant of God, cat and dog mother, a cook and baker (recreational, not just basic domestic), I'm a international penpal, I'm a Care Manager, I'm a bloody good neighbour, I'm a crafter of sewing, crochet, knitting and cardmaking and a learner driver 😁

Love this thread. As well as being a mummy, I am:

  • 4 months away from finishing my political science degree.
  • learning to roller-skate. Because life is short, and why not?
  • an empathetic person. I work with students, and empathy goes a long way. But I'm proud to be a mummy.

A wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter, an auntie.. and a business owner, partner really, a farmer, tractor operator and former horse trainer. I also surf and shoot… when I have the time!

A wife, a sister, a daughter, a niece.
I garden, I train and work gundogs, I care for my disabled DH.

If I died right now, the headline would be "Pregnant Charity Worker tragically killed".

But I am a writer, a crafter, a bit of a crank, a fiercely loyal friend, and I have been responsible for projects that have improved the lives of thousands of children and staff working with them. I love LOTR, and if I died now, I'd be pissed at missing the third series of the Witcher and The Great.

Novelist, academic, feminist editor. But to be honestly, although I have a child I adore, I've never particularly thought of myself as 'mummy'. In my head I'm a novelist etc who has a child. Similarly, I'd be surprised if my DH thinks of himself as a 'Daddy' who is also a CEO, an excellent cook and a devoted fan of The Pixies.

In no particular order:
Christian, autistic, widow, single parent, hospital doctor (retired), bridge player, ex Sunday school teacher, sister, aunt, great aunt, cat servant, gardener, home owner, long Covid sufferer. Bit of an odd mixture, I suppose!
