Legoland

Was planning to take my DS to Legoland for his 4th birthday. Has anyone been with young children? My neighbour said there's not much to do for under 7s, although the website makes it look like it is also set up for young ones?
Looking for other peoples experiences. Just wondering if will be worth it or should we maybe wait until he's older. We all love Lego!
Thanks

There's absolutely loads for a just turned 4 year old to do. Ours loved it at that age. We went for two days and that was probably a bit much. Not because there wasn't enough to do but because it's quite full on and sensory overloading.

Check out all the shows and have a plan for what you want to see. We especially liked the pirate show on the lake.

There is a whole area designed for young children.
Go. Your child will enjoy it and will easily spend the day there.

We’ve just been with a 93 cm 3 year old and it was great! Never been before but plenty to do and he loved it. Will go back again for sure. Ours could only do the 90cm plus rides and it was plenty but much more options if over 100 cm which is when we will go again.

Loads for this age - try to avoid holidays like half term

Floralnomad · 14/05/2023 14:26

Loads for that age , I’d say Legoland is really suited to under 9s , and there is limited appeal to older children unless they are really into Lego and new to theme parks .

FlounderingFruitcake · 14/05/2023 14:26

It’s the opposite, no idea what your neighbour is on about.

If your DC is a metre tall, which is average ish for a 4YO, then they can go on almost everything if with an adult, the vast majority have a minimum of 90cm so even if he’s smaller there’s still tons. I can only think of 3 rides that would he a no- the big driving school, viking river something and mia’s riding adventure.

Addymontgomeryfan · 14/05/2023 15:03

My DC was 4 the first time we went and there was only 2 rides they couldn't go on. 4 is a great age to go and they will have an amazing time.

Loads to do with little ones, just make sure you go during the week, in term time and check inset days in local schools first.

Great! Thanks for all your replies, I think he's going to love it.

Remember your swimming stuff and towel as duploland has a cool splash/water area. There’s enough todo as long as he’s 90cm or over. Is it Windsoror Or Billund you are going to?

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 14/05/2023 18:35

Your neighbour is wrong, it is defo a theme park suited for younger children. Anyone over 8/9 would be bored I'd say. As long as they are over 90cm they'll be fine!

Roselilly36 · 14/05/2023 18:38

We absolutely loved Legoland when our DS were little, definitely go, if you can outside of school hols, take a picnic and eat in in Miniland, avoid late summer due to wasps. It’s a long day as Legoland is hilly, expect lots of queues, but totally worth it.

Been several times when kids were as young as your dc. Plenty to do for 4 year olds.

I'd say 7yo was about the time mine started finding Legoland less fun.
As long as he's over 90cm (and he'd be noticeably small at 4yo) then there's loads to go on. Perfect age I'd say. At that age with my dc we used to go weekly through the summer and they never got bored of going.

Gooseysgirl · 14/05/2023 21:49

Mine are 11 and 9 and still love it 😆 If you can afford it, pay for the queue jumping ticket - it will enable you to make the most out of the day and go on most of the rides you want. There are loads of Legoland advisory threads on here with great advice!

FlounderingFruitcake · 15/05/2023 08:01

Yes to the queue jumping ticket! For a 4YO the cheapest one (think it’s about £15 pp on an off peak day) is really good. It queues in real time but you don’t have to physically stand in the queue so whilst it’s waiting for the big rides you can do smaller rides, watch the shows, have an ice cream break, go to the big playgrounds etc. Hands down worth it.

Oh and the food is shocking. I wouldn’t even care that much about it being ludicrously overpriced if it were edible but it’s totally disgusting. Take a picnic.

alienslove · 15/05/2023 16:47

There is a Facebook page which is good to join, it has lots of info about rides etc.
If you can go midweek term time the queues will be much better.

Would like to take my niece this summer, can I ask you if there's a discount code or offers on cereal packs or does that not happen anymore?
