Worse thing you've done at work

Temping in a job for 6 months and when I started I was given really great handover as the other person was leaving and I wrote everything down. Job came up as permanent and an internal candidate was successful. I've since moved to a different part of the company as permanent staff.

The new person has never asked me if I have handover notes - so I've not told them!

Now they ask how do they do X for this grade recruitment and I've started delaying my reply to them and then call them and say I'm not sure I didn't that grade recruitment. Utter lies I did all grades but I don't want to help them.

I know it's bad and should help but don't.

Does it make a difference to you, though? I don’t understand … not meant in the usual MN way, I genuinely don’t understand!

probably the worst thing I ever did was feed a laminating pouch the wrong way through the brand new laminator. I pressed reverse, but it was too late. I smuggled the laminator home, dismantled it on my kitchen table and unpeeled the pouch from the roller. Then put it all back together again and took it back at the crack of dawn so no one ever knew. Luckily the old laminator was still around so in penance I always made sure I used that one in future. The repaired one worked fine, just as well really because I had completely invalidated the guarantee.Oops.

I went for the job too and this person got it because they were "slightly more experienced in this area of work as an all rounder" that was my feedback. So I now think if they're that great they wouldn't be asking for my help. And it annoyed me that they got it

If you'd said that in your OP it would have made more sense. Now it looks like a drip feed.

I just think that's Incredibly petty it's not their fault they got the job.

I could never be that mean spirited why deliberately make someone else's day a little bit worse

Not me but a colleague who is also a friend managed to get her manager to sleep with her and develop feelings so she could get an easier ride at work. Seems to have worked. He is, however, married with 2 kids.

Drove my boss' brand new car down an unsurfaced track and ripped the oil sump off. It literally had about 200 miles on it.

I set the toaster on fire, the alarm went off and a call was made automatically for assistance. Two fire engines turned up and we had to evacuate the building.

@viques

Sorry but that was hilarious. I pictured you smuggling a laminator home and sweating as you repaired it. Glad for you that it all turned out well 😁
