I have a decent discount so thought I'd give it a try. I just can't get inspired by the choices on offer. I have 2 young dc so they have to be family friendly, although the dc are pretty good with trying new things

The pasta selections we'd probably like but I coukd knock up easily enough myself

Any recommendations?

Some weeks are more inspiring than other weeks, so if this isn’t an inspiring week check back next week or the week after. We like the sea bass with tomato salsa. We’ve had a few of the curries which have been nice and sticky beef noodles are also a favourite of ours. Sometimes the combos sound a bit odd (one of recent meals made a side with green beans and tomatoes) and not something I would automatically put together but 9/10 I think they work out.

They do a penne beef ragu which is so tasty! Overall the pasta dishes are always good.

Think its a waste of money! Portions too tiny for my liking

We have just had our second box…

last week butter chicken curry was a winner, kids loved it.

the ultimate bolognese (pork mince) was gorgeous.

I’ve also been impressed with the two pasta dishes we’ve made; garlicky greens rigatoni and the creamy bacon pasta. I did whizz the greens in the nutri bullet before I stirred it through the sauce, kids wolfed it!

Trying the sticky noodles this week, as well as the coronation chicken.

Interesting @Emmamoo89 i think portions are generous (but my box for 3 is for me and 2DC).

Following - I have two extremely fussy young children and I’m sick of thinking of meals- but can’t get past the section with the card details to see the kind of options

@DaysofHoney I think its too expensive to get pasta dishes that I can make easily myself. The kids like pasta of course, but we have a variety of recipes that I rotate that they love.

I can't see me carrying it on tbh. Was hoping for some inspiration but really struggled to choose anything.

I totally agree that without the discounts it’s very expensive. I’m using it while DH is overseas to keep myself sane! He usually cooks most of the time and meal planning really stresses me out, so for now it’s perfect but we won’t use it long term.

angrysue42 · 12/05/2023 09:49

It is expensive for the ingredients. But if you are a shit cook like me it's more about the inspiration to try new dishes and the guidance about what goes with what. It also saves you buying a full jar of spices or whatever when you only need a pinch for a particular recipe.

We have 3 meals a week and I'm happy with that. Anymore would be too expensive. But if we didn't have it I'm fairly sure we'd eat the same old boring meals week in week out.

They usually have good ideas about making rice more interesting or nutritious, so I’d pick something served with rice. They also pan fry gnocchi, which blew my mind and I still do. Recipe cards I’ve kept are: Thai Massaman Rice, Mango Chutney Chicken, Turkey and Apple Tabbouleh, Salmon Tarator, Ham Hock and Mint Risotto
