Any letting agents or landlords able to answer a question for me?

We need to move as our landlord is selling the house. Properties have gone up a lot since we were last looking to rent.
Do benefits like tax credits and disability payments count towards income for affordability purposes? My DH's income alone isn't enough, but with the top ups we receive, a monthly rent of around £1100 is affordable.
Thanks for any advice you could give me 😊

Oh really @Imknackeredzzz
So only my husband's earned income will be considered? We're screwed then 😭

I've rented 2 different properties in the last 6 years and both lettings agents/landlords allowed me to rent even though I am on benefits as I was clear how much total I receive a month and could easily afford it, I was just honest -when they asked my income I said this is my total income per month which is made up of such and such and they were fine with it. Each company/individual has different rules so you can only try.

So someone who cannot work due to disability is being discriminated about

Depends on the agency etc… when I was working for a referencing company a percentage of the benefits were taken into account dependant on the type of benefit.
