What can I do with old tech?

I have a kitchen drawer filled with old phones, ipods and there's a defunct ipad in there too.

Some possibly will charge and potentially work (some chargers are missing so I can't test) and some are broken.

Is security something I need to consider or is there somewhere trustworthy where I can get rid and not worry about someone accessing information?

TIA

The only and best solution is to take a hammer to them if you are concerned about information security. Then dispose of at the council dump - they usually have a gadgets bucket.

Try Music Magpie. I sent our old iPads there along with some very old phones and got a bit of cash for them. Even if you don't get much money you will know they've been recycled.

Turn them on and factory reset. Remove any memory cards (Apple don't have removable cats so ignore fire Apple devices). Then recycle either at the tip (in the electronics tu), an electronics store, or I passed sone old working phones into Oxfam.

Don't hammer them. Won't be secure, might leak screen LCD stuff, worst case damage the battery and cause a fire.

Thanks 😊

Roller "Apple don't have removable cats"

what a selling point that would be!

Interesting answers, I have the same issue but worried in case anyone can get anything from it.

Take out any sensitive information and pass them on to your local charity shop, they can resell or sell as scrap in most cases

Just please don't put them anywhere near dh. I discovered yet another bag of "well, technically they're obsolete but we mustn't throw them away just on the very unlikely chance we need some 1990s vintage cables" in dh's study.
This adds to the drawer full and carboard box I sneaked up to the loft.

Ps. Anyone need some obsolete cables?
