Why am I so hot??

Last summer I spent the mornings (getting myself and dc ready) hot, sweating, uncomfortable. I wondered if it was "my age". No problem over the autumn abd winter though.

This week its started again. Its sunny, and damp, yet I have a glistening top lip just from getting ready. I feel sticky and warm.

Does it sound like hot flushes? It's only in the mornings

How old are you? Could be perimenopause.

TuesandThursNero · 10/05/2023 08:25

Are you overweight?

MaryJean87 · 10/05/2023 08:28

I'm the same. I don't sweat a lot under my arms but I feel boiling and end up with a sweaty head. It's all the rushing about I think, worse when I'm due on my period.

tikkanaan · 10/05/2023 08:29

What are you wearing? Is it breathable?

Damnloginpopup · 10/05/2023 09:09

I think this every time I look in the mirror.

Bemyclementine · 10/05/2023 09:16

I'm 45, and yes a bit overweight. I can do all manner of vigorous activity at other times though, without an issue

I am often just in underwear (getting ready for work.)

Do you like to have hot showers/ baths as part of your getting ready routine?
I find that if I do this on a warmer day, especially if I wash my hair as well, I can’t easily dry off and feel a bit damp and yucky while I get ready.
I also have to allow a bit of time between my shower and leaving the door. Ideally at least 30-60 minutes to let my hair towel dry/ air dry before I blast it with the hairdryer.
I’m mid thirties and not peri, long-ish hair.

Maybe try cooler showers and see if that helps.

Bemyclementine · 10/05/2023 09:18

I dont have a shower or bath in the morning (no shower in the house, bath atnight)

What's the humidity level in your house

TuesandThursNero · 10/05/2023 09:27

How old are your children?

Skybluepinky · 10/05/2023 09:47

Sounds like Peri, visit yr GP.

Bemyclementine · 10/05/2023 12:19

Children are 6 and 7. 7 yr old is good, 6 yr old needs a lot of encouragement to get on with it

I wondered if peri menopause, but mornings only?

I find if I drink a cup of tea or coffee quickly it can make me sweat. Try cutting out the tea of coffee in the morning to see if you are cooler.

BMW6 · 10/05/2023 15:19

45 you say? I was that age when I started the menopause with raging hot flushes day and night.

You have my sympathy

TuesandThursNero · 10/05/2023 15:29

Would you describe the mornings as the most stressful part of your day?

Bemyclementine · 10/05/2023 19:06

I do drink tea and coffee quickly, but not steaming hot. But it can't help.

Yes, mornings can be a bit stressful.

@BMW6 ugh I thought as it was just mornings, and just in warmer weather, it wouldn't be that. I suppose its inevitable!

Could there be any chance you are either pre-diabetic or type 2 diabetic?
