How important are year 2 sats?

In all honesty, I’m not even sure what they’re for.
Is it to assess what level they’ll be working at in year 3?

My eldest didn’t do them as they were cancelled due to covid so this is my first experience of them.
I guess my underlying question is, how much should I be preparing DD for them?

Perhaps you’d like to tell Flora56 that she too is spouting utter bullshit - we’re telling you the same thing. Maybe because we both worked in the system, know our stuff.

Year 2 SATs are part of the prior assessment data. Read those last three words carefully.
