Disposing of old pillows

Maybe a weird question but I have located a number of manky old pillows in my house that we don’t need anymore and I don’t know how to get rid of them! Do you just put them in your normal bin? That doesn’t seem right. Can’t put them in the textiles bank as they’re properly gross and old and stained etc (I don’t know how, we use pillow protectors!) and they’re not something to pass on to anyone else.
Do you take them to the tip? If it was just one I’d probably just bin it but there’s about 10 of the buggers!

I took several to the tip today and the guy said to put them in the bin recyclable skip. The clothing and textile recycling bins don’t want them, I checked if the local cat and dog home wanted them but they don’t, so there wasn’t much choice. Our non recyclable waste goes for incineration and energy from waste rather than landfill so I don’t feel too bad!

Normally rescue centres will take them for pet bedding

If you have a Dunelm near you they will recycle duvets, pillows, blankets and other unwanted bedding such as mattress toppers.

Oh my god I’m mortified at the thought of taking them everywhere 😂 they look like they’ve been buried in the garden for 50 years 🤣
But thanks, useful info re the tip/rescue centres/Dunelm. I think there’s a dunelm at the next town along, never been to the tip but I think we have to book a slot.

Sometimes cat charities will take them for adopters/fosterers to stuff up their chimneys to prevent cats lodging themselves up there in a panic. If you’re in London, you could try Feline Friends.
