Hello, I had a mirena put in around 5 years ago so booked an appointment for a new one to be put in at the 5 year mark. I since had a text saying they last for six years now and if I had booked one within this window could I rebook so they could free the appointment up. It seemed like a generic text rather than to me specifically.
My question is, does the six years apply to mirenas placed 5 years ago or only to more recent newer mirenas? I'm not sure if my specific Mirena is therefore still working for up to six years.
Our local NHS service is impossible to reach by phone and it rings for hours, so I can't call and ask. Just wondered if anyone else knows to save me a physical trip into the hospital to ask.
