4 year old throwing up breakfast in evening

My daughter has been sick this evening after her evening meal and again just now. Both times, it was clear that her breakfast was still in her stomach (raspberries). I've googled and can't see any information about this and maybe I'm over-worrying but is this normal? Or does it indicate a problem with her digestion? I'll book a GP appointment asap but as usual these things happen over the BH weekend :-(

I think this would depend on why she was sick. Is she ill in other ways too? Did she feel bad all day?
Possibly a bit of a bug that's slowing down digestion, and her evening meal pushed her over the edge.

Not comparable to a 4 year old but that was what happened as an early sign of covid for me. No appetite all day and after trying to have a bit of food in the evening, a realisation that it didn't seem that much digesting had been going on.

How many days has she been vomiting for? I would think raspberries are quite hard to digest with all the little seeds and I’d not be overly concerned if she’s been sick only a few times as it’s likely to be a bug. Some things come out pretty much as they went in such as corn. how is she in herself - any other symptoms?

I've had this with children I've looked after who've had gastro bugs - their digestion just seems to shut down. If its a one off and she doesn't have any other symptoms (tummy ache, vomiting, runs) or she obviously has a sickness bug then I wouldn't worry personally.

I thought it was fairly 'standard' for food to sit in the stomach/digest more slowly and come back up again in the event of a bug/eating something disagreeable. Last time I had an issue like this, I ate a small breakfast and a tiny lunch (by that point I was feeling 'dodgy'), then threw up everything along with my dinner from the night before (which I suspect was the trigger).

Gastroparesis can be brought on by illness or certain medications.

Yeah stomach bugs can halt digestion.

Thanks so much everyone. I think it was a stomach bug, it was once an hour for a few hours and this morning she's fine. Generally she has no other signs of illness. I had no idea bugs slowed digestion! There is coeliac disease in the family so my alarm bells were ringing about that. This has been really reassuring, cheers.

@LunchAtTeatime no she didn't feel bad all day, she was happy and completely herself. It was after her dinner she very suddenly felt out of sorts and then she vomited about 30 mins after
