I don't know what's happened to me. I used to be fit, exercised often and ate well.
Now I'm just vegging in the sofa with my phone too much, feeling tired, gaining weight and eating crap to get me through the day.
No issues other than busy working mum. I've just got into lazy unhealthy ways.

It takes time but you eventually get there it's making the small steps first.

So I would start with drinking plenty of water.
Food shop make sure that snacks are limited not over doing it with temptation foods so if it's not in won't be eaten.

Stuff like trying to eat more fruit than choc or crisps.

Look at more filling foods than ready meals or fast foods.

Stuff like walking to start off with surprising how a quick 20 min walk can make you feel better then gradually building up on that walking can include your family if you want or just having time to on your own.

I try to move about a lot when home so I will sit down for a bit but then will get up and potter about cleaning or doing stuff as I find if I sit down too long I tend to look at my phone or eat more.

Don't beat yourself up though the odd lazy day is needed when you have young Dcs I certainly enjoy
My odd lazy day with my two.

Wannabedisneyprincess · 06/05/2023 20:27

This was me until last week, work ft and have 2 DCs (1 and 4) and just wanted to sit on the sofa and eats crisps and chocolate once they were in bed and watch tv/scroll my phone

but my DH got me a new Apple Watch for my bday at the end of April which came with a few months of free apple fitness and since Monday I’ve done 5 work outs on it after the kids go to bed and the jobs are done, just 10 or 20mins but then when I sit on the sofa and eat chocolate afterwards it makes me feel less bad about life 🤣 (I didn’t do any workouts yesterday and felt worse because I didn’t do anything)

PhoenixArisen · 06/05/2023 21:51

Water! I know I don't drink enough.

@FunkyMonks it's not the odd day. I've been like this for months and can't seem to snap out if it.
I went for a walk after dinner and I do feel better.
Workout scheduling is next.

Have you ruled out menopause op?

Heroicallyfound · 06/05/2023 21:58

Can you reframe ‘lazy’ to ‘a need for rest’? You say you’re a busy working mum - have you got enough rest/play time for you built into your routine? Rather than piling on extra things to do, let go of the guilt for needing a rest and free time.

Fatat40 · 06/05/2023 22:47

OP I'm 100A% with you.

Tired, sluggish, eating crap. Exhausted by demands.

No advice just solidarity

Where does this mystery rest time come from? I'm on the go from 7am to 9pm. Its miserable

Heroicallyfound · 06/05/2023 22:50

Priorities. What are you doing from 7am til 9pm? What are you doing Monday to Sunday?

Fatat40 · 06/05/2023 22:55

7-9 - get up, dressed, kids up, breakfasts, school run
9-5 work
5-7 pick up kids, make and eat dinner, after school activities, homework, washing etc
7-8 baths, reading, bedtimes
8-9 tidy up, make packed lunches, get ready for the following day to start it all again!

I bought a yumbox lunchbox recently. It has changed my life! It's divided into sections that just invite me to fill them with blueberries, nice dip, carrots etc. My stomach feels better, I have better Energy levels so I drink less tea. I bought one for DD, and it's doing the same for her, and also motivating her to do her own lunchbox.

PhoenixArisen · 06/05/2023 22:57

I can't rule out menopause as I'm the right age but I'm really spending way too much time arsing around on my phone when I could be going for a walk, planning better meals or doing anything else.
I'm just in an unhealthy habit rut that I need to get out of.

@PhoenixArisen - do think about HRT then - it can be a game changer. I've still got a stone I now need to lose (from doing the same as you!) but my energy is so much better since going on Estrogel, but it took me about 6 months to realise this was my issue.
I've also recently bought on eBay a cross trainer and it allows you to just jump on and do 5 minutes when you have 5 minutes. I'm going to build up but currently also recovering from covid / pneumonia- so I'm getting out of breath really quickly on it. But it's great to have it just there to get on and go (and tricky to get out for a run / walk if you've got small children) - it's the one bit of gym equipment I liked!

I also think 5:2 works as you are then more mindful about you eat for 2 days and it has a knock on effect for rest of the week. But i haven't yet got into that again!
