How often do you clean your home?

I must have this wrong. All I do is clean?! I have two young children so maybe that is just why. But then I suppose the question really is.. how do you keep a house tidy with children around without cleaning everything 24/7 or is that just not possible?

How long do you spend cleaning your bathroom / toilet ?

And how ON EARTH do you keep on top of the dishes……….

Why are people surprised at daily bathroom clean, how could you leave a toilet for a week, without cleaning. I'm not surprised so many folk keep getting Covid and D &V. I am surprised at how many people have Hoovers however, last time I had one was nearly 50 years ago, noisy, smelly, and messy with a bag to empty. Much prefer my various vacuum cleaners.

What has an uncleaned toilet got to do with covid?.

I have lived for decades without cleaning my toilet daily and neither I nor anyone else in my family has ever caught a virus as a result

I'm not sure what you're doing wrongly

Every day for average 4 hours, but I'm a gypsy so it's cultural.

Not often. Our wonderful cleaner comes weekly and does 4 hours. We just do bits in between. She comes on a Friday so the house is done for the weekend. Bliss!

I clean thoroughly once a week. I tidy and vacuum daily. I deep clean areas like the kitchen, bathroom, and utility once a month, as they get heavier use than elsewhere.

I do know people say hoover when they mean vacuum but why.Hoover are a manufacturer of vacuum cleaners . I'm not doing anything wrong, I've not had Covid, and not a cough/cold etc for about 20 years. I was saying/meaning,you can't see germs normally so some folk aren't bothered by them till they get ill, then they wonder why. Perhaps everyone else is absolutely perfect, no-one pees on the toilet seat, the toilet magically cleans itself along with the residue of soap, toothpaste. I couldn't care less what others do,down to them. Just answering how often do you clean.... little and often.

Covid lives in surfaces and is carried in human waste products.

Same reason people say sellotape instead of sticky tape, portakabin instead of portable cabin, Post-it instead of sticky note, and a zillion other things.

Tidy up daily. Clean house weekly

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/05/2023 20:56

I've never cleaned my toilet daily and never had covid. Last had a stomach bug in 2003.

Nannyfannybanny · 07/05/2023 08:25

Perhaps it's different if you're out at work all day, maybe the toilet doesn't get messy/smelly. We have just one toilet,at home all day, various urine and bowel issues. It's used a lot,(I actually clean it after use!!)

Nowhere near as much as I should 😂

Floors, toilet, bathroom sink most of the time once a week, dishes twice/3 times a day, washing every couple of days

Anything when we get around to it, I am not looking back on my life regretting not cleaning more

babyproblems · 07/05/2023 11:07

Daily- dishwasher once or twice, clean worktops, tidy as we go, load of washing or two.

couple of times a week: hoover, mop if needed, bedding wash as required

weekend: bleach kitchen sink, downstairs loo, bathroom tidy/clean or deep clean if needed, garden waste taking out, fridge clean and clear out when I do the weekly food shop.

I have a small house which helps! Also I am hot on getting rid of clutter. Having too much stuff makes life like running through tar. Simple is best! I also spent time when I was on mat leave going through each room and making sure everything had a place. If there was no place left, it went in the bin. That way you aren’t constantly searching for space and you have a constant system of things being tidy and easy to find. Too many things and not enough space destroys quality of life imo! X
