I need a health app. I don't know where to start.

I had a health assessment yesterday. I know the things I need to work on but I don't know where I can collate information or make a plan.

I need to:

Cut down on salt, sugar, caffeine and alcohol. (Slightly raised cholesterol and fasting blood sugar, slightly high blood pressure).

I am overweight so need to lose weight but I have a sore hip and am being referred on for this. I can't do a lot of exercise because of this but I have started gentle swimming.

Because I am in a bit of pain my mood has been low so I want to get information on how to manage this and improve my mood.

Is there an App where I can plan and monitor all of this. I have diet Apps and meditation Apps but not just one which would cover everything. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

MyFitnessPal?

I have myfitnesspal as well as a number of similar Apps but I think I need something that is tailored to give more support somehow. Maybe I am asking for the moon on a stick. I am happy to pay for an App subscription.

I don't think an app will help you with all of that, it's a lot of changes, and you will end up overwhelmed. Just focus on one thing at a time. Use My Fitness Pal to lose weight, which will naturally help with the other things. Don't worry too much about exercise just yet.

I've literally just started with Centr. It's Chris Hemsworth's app and focuses on food, exercise, meditation and sleep health. Each one is optional and you can decide if you want to lose weight or build muscle etc, and the food options are really good! The meditations are really good as well. You do have to pay after 7 days though.

I saw that one. I will look at it more closely. Thanks.

Do you have any kind of fitness watch? A lot of them allow you to link apps through their interface - so for example FitBit allows you to link to the Weightwatchers app, so you can monitor steps, workouts/exercise, sleep and nutrition at once. WW has mindset stuff too.

I'm pretty sure other watches have similar functions but that's the combination I know.

Yes I have a Garmin although it's a fairly basic one. I can maybe revive it and see what it can offer me.

I've had success with WW before but stopped my membership as they kept changing the plans. Anyone know what it is like at the moment?

I quite like WW. I’m not really on it at the moment but the app works well and has lots of inspiration and features to it, and I like that it links to my watch. I exercise a lot so it’s rewarding seeing the points add up.

It essentially promotes protein, reduces carbs and allows a bit of flexibility for treats, which is a pretty solid foundation for weight loss.
