Animal Crossing

Does anyone else play Animal Crossing?

I was enjoying this nice relaxing game, wandering through the trees catching butterflies, walking along the beach collecting shells. But now I have an ever increasing to-do list on my island as well as an ever increasing to-do list in the real world!

How long do you spend on your island each day? What are the most important things to do? If I shake and chop all the trees it takes forever, then there's fish to catch and flowers to plant and a museum to stock and houses to build for new residents and bridges and sea creatures and daily stretching and I'm supposed to chat with every resident every day and there's random visitors too. I can't get everything done!

It's beginning to feel like more chores to do every day instead of sitting down with a relaxing game!

If I keep playing will I eventually unlock indestructable tools?! Making tools and collecting the stuff to make the tools and then using the tools for two minutes before they break and having to make more tools just to collect the resources to make more tools is very frustrating!

I wish there was a way to lock things in place. I keep accidentally picking up stuff I don't want to move when I'm just trying to pick weeds or vegetables or pick up branches or balloon gifts or whatever. It's very annoying!

Oh my goodness! I have found my tribe! Am 54yrs young and have never revealed my obsession to anyone outside of immediate family. I absolutely love Animal Crossing, been playing since the first game came out. I'm on my second island on New Horizons. Also play the Happy Home bit too. I find it very calming, especially after a stressful day. Thanks for the heads up about the FB page.

I managed to breed my first purple tulip (fairly easy to breed but I've had v limited success to date).

@LighthouseCat ooh I didn't know there was purple tulips. I know there's guides to everything online (googling things like how do I climb the cliff in the first couple of days haha) but I try to avoid looking at too much info, I like just finding stuff out as it happens in the game. I had an orange rose appear the other day. I like the little surprises like that.

@Chippychipsandgravy in the happy home one do you decorate the houses of all the island inhabitants? One of mine is still sleeping in a sleeping bag despite me gifting him beds. Maybe he just likes sleeping there but I can't help feeling bad for him every time I visit his house.

You start out decorating vacation homes for random villagers, they request that you build them a little space and they don't have to be on your island - or if they are, it won't affect their original homes.

Later on though you can change the homes of the villagers on your island, it takes some time to get there!

Who are your villagers OP? I played for over two years but fell off in recent months. My favourite is Rasher :)

BellsShellsFishBugs · 12/06/2023 21:32

I'll wait till I'm bored to add the happy home bit, for now I still have plenty of stuff to do. Kody is the one in the sleeping bag, Puddles, Diva, Vesta, Olaf, Frida? she's a penguin who just moved in yesterday, Pudge, Gruff, Lionel.

I wish I could earn real life money as fast as bells 😂

Congratulations!!!

I just restarted my island So was thrilled to get a pink!

Gooseysgirl · 15/06/2023 15:09

I have Flo the Flamingo on my island at the moment and I'm quite fond of her. Patiently waiting for Ankha to approach me about leaving... she's annoying me 😆 I had Peewee the gorilla try to worm his way back but ignored him.

I am on a mission to breed a purple windflower - need to clear some land first.

LovePoppy · 11/07/2023 00:03

After just over two months, I have my first gold rose!

Golden watering can and consistency

if you don’t have the golden watering him yet, I’d be happy to drop one off at your island at some point!!

FrancisSeaton · 12/08/2023 13:06

Anyone have a code so I can visit your island?

Gooseysgirl · 14/08/2023 09:19

I've got some gold roses at last 🥳

toomanyhobbies · 07/09/2023 17:49

Hi I’ve been playing animal crossing on and off for a while me and ds share an island. I have a question I know I need a
2nd game card if I want to start a 2nd game. Would I also need another switch?

Digimoor · 07/09/2023 22:28

Yes you would need another switch

Digimoor · 07/09/2023 22:28

You can do two islands with one cartridge but they have to be on different switches - and then you can't play at the same time

Charltonandthewheelies · 03/01/2024 13:13

Not sure if anyone is still on this thread but I received Animal Crossing for Christmas (I'm also the other side of 50!) I'm loving it, but so is my granddaughter! Is there a way to set her up with her own island or would she need her own switch and new cartridge?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 03/01/2024 13:18

Hello I received a switch for Christmas with animal crossing built in. DD is on AC too and she invited me to her island on the game and we sat and had coffee together! I'm 42 btw

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 03/01/2024 13:19

Sorry @Charltonandthewheelies I think she's going to need her own. My dd kept asking me to play with her hence one of the reasons I got it.

LonelyFlans · 03/01/2024 13:40

We have 4 family members on one switch, but only one "owner" of the island. So if you can share/take it in turns you'll be ok with one.

Charltonandthewheelies · 03/01/2024 19:32

Thanks, think I'm just getting a little protective over it!
