Does he claim expenses? I often have to travel and then I'm reimbursed, so if you looked at my monthly salary you would think I earn more than I actually do!

SweetSakura · 04/05/2023 20:27

Can't you just ask him?

@BarbaraofSeville

No student loans or any deduction.

No car allowance or anything.

On £37,000 & standard 1257L tax code with no student loan or pension his take home would be approx £2,432 per month.

Gross salary of £39,963 will give a monthly net salary of £2,600 on a standard tax code of 1257L and NI code A.
Monthly tax would be £456 and NI would be £355

Is his basic pay £37,000 and then he has overtime/bonus/commission on top?

But why wouldn't you just ask him?

mizu · 04/05/2023 21:55

I pay a shed load in pension. Earn 39,415 - ish and net pay each month is 2315.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/05/2023 21:56

But that would be without any pension contributions.

Most people on £40k+ will have £200+ in pension contributions deducted too.

Helenahandkart · 04/05/2023 22:21

I get that take home on approx £42k.

Crushmonsters · 04/05/2023 22:27

I don’t mean to sound judgemental, but I’m pretty shocked that you can’t openly discuss your husband’s earnings with him

ladydimitrescu · 04/05/2023 22:50

42k is £2,700 (rounded up minimally) for my DH, after tax and NI

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 05/05/2023 01:14

He's obviously not salaried if his earnings fluctuate, so his base salary might be £37 but he gets manager allowance on certain shifts or OT or whatever.
