So, what is your ear worm right now

I’ve had If I Had You by Adam Lambert stuck in my head for a few days now. Good job I really like that song.

My guilty pleasure though is watching The Hillywood Show Pirates Of The Caribbean, because it uses this song on it. Hilly really does pull off Captain Jack. Mind you, she seems to pull off everything! A true chameleon

All You Wanna Do from the musical Six

RoseRobot · 04/05/2023 13:29

I had Keane's Somewhere Only We Know on a loop in my ear for about three weeks. It's died down a bit in the last few days so something else will probably lock in soon.

Are you the waily bit or the mass yelly bit? I'm a mass yelly bit fan personally.

The bit we need to learn from memory is a quiet bit, accompanying the soprano soloist, just before it launches into the gallop to the end.

I love the loud bits too - being a second alto I get to do the moving notes on the recurring "Dies irae" theme, which is great fun 😍

Burgerqueenbee · 04/05/2023 13:54

The geometry song from an episode of Paddington my toddler watched on Monday Confused

Did anyone feel anything just then? I think we may have just experienced a shift in the reality matrix… an alto, allowed to do a fun bit? Not plonked onto gruesomely unintuitive harmony lines (with strange rhythms and gaps, if you're very lucky) whose difficulty goes entirely unappreciated until something goes wrong, or allocated uninspiring and repetitive fill-in texture notes, or told to "make do" with there only being three of you because most people prefer to think of themselves as sops, or for very occasional spice, given a tenor part with an apologetic "do your best"?!

I hope you absolutely rock those moving notes Grin

BottleBottoms · 04/05/2023 15:12

(To be fair, your choir is clearly many, many times more professional and fancy than any choir I've ever been in, so you probably don't have the reluctant alto problem. Or the next-best-thing-to-a-tenor problem.)

OliveHenry · 04/05/2023 15:45

We are a large choir (over 100 members) and we still struggle with tenors (always a shortage!) But we've got plenty of altos (which is a good thing as it meant I could mime the top G (yes, top G! The one sitting on the top of the treble clef!) near the end of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony).

Even Huddersfield Choral Society are struggling for tenors :-(

I love it though, even if it gives me weird ear worms from time to time.

The other music I've had going through my head recently - Into The Mystic by Van Morrison. I don't mind that either as it's one of my favourites.

Right now??

Actually right now??

The music from the Ice Cream Van that's been driving around.

Miracle from Matilda the Musical.

I wholeheartedly regret buying the children the cd for the car.

Neil Young - Harvest Moon. To be played at my Dads funeral next week and a fave of his and my Mums. Can't help but cry every time I hear it.

I dreamed a dream from Les Mis.
Aaarghhh.

Baby I love your way

was watching ‘the chart show’ top tens on YouTube from the 90s and this one song has been STUCK in my head for days now

CentralCeeEarworm · 04/05/2023 16:30

The first line of Doja by Central Cee: 'How can I be homophobic, my bitch is gay'

Unbearably catchy and so fucking funny. Must remember not to sing it aloud, well, anywhere really. Too easily misunderstood.
