Days out

Good evening all 🙂

I was just wondering how much do you spend on days out i.e weekends and half terms? do you have a budget?

I ask this, because I have little control when it comes to spending, and I would like to go out and not spend as much money.

Do you believe that you can still take your child(ren) out on little amount of funds?

Well, my dc are older now, but we didn't have much money when they were little.

I used to try and get them out every day in the school holidays.
We'd generally have one "expensive" trip a year (Zoo or theme park or whatever).

There's LOADs of places to go and things to do without spending much.
Easier if you have transport of course.

How old are your dc ?
Roughly where in the country are you ? As people can suggest things near you.

When they kids were little we had membership to the local aquarium, zoo and science museum. We'd get them for birthday / Xmas presents.

We never really ate out much on days out - always took a packed lunch and bought an ice cream. Rarely bought in gift shops etc.

If you’re in London there are a fair few places that are free or you can buy a yearly membership. (Transport museum is pretty cheap for a year’s ticket, natural history is free)
under 3s are usually free.

pack a lunch and snacks( cafes are usually ridiculously expensive)
avoid the gift shop as much as you can!

In London, it's easy.

There's endless free stuff to do.

Even when you have to pay, there's nearly always a discount available if you google, or you can get a membership and rotate round, so you use the one you have loads, then when it runs out, join up somewhere else.

Public transport is cheaper than most of the country and it's likely you have passes if you use it for work/school?

Food and drink can be expensive, but just take stuff with you, buy from a supermarket while out, or cheaper takeaway type places.

How on earth is it costing you £150+?????
