Will this be affecting my car insurance premium?

Before I spend 64 years on the phone trying to talk to a human, because the "live chat" is just a fucking robot.

I had a no fault accident in 2013, where I stopped at a red light and the driver behind stopped in my boot. All sorted through the other drivers insurance, reported to my insurance company as per the law, end of. Premium didn't go up at renewal even though I was warned it might - at the time I was a fairly new driver and so it was going down year on year as I built up a no claims bonus.

Just been looking through my renewal documents as that's coming up and the premium is now going up a bit for some reason, and under "claims losses or accidents in the last 3 years" the 2013 accident is listed! I have no idea why and I'm sure it wasn't last time, it's well outside the 3 years that they need to know about and I wasn't even with this insurer at the time.

Is this likely to be affecting my premium in any way, or is it not worth spending ages on the phone to get it removed because their system will register that it's outside the 3 years?

It shouldn't be as it's outside the time limit, but insurance computer systems are weird beasts so I'd get it removed anyway just in case

Yeah I wasn't sure if it being listed at all would mean it was being taken into account, or if their algorithm would ignore it based on the date! And as for how it even appeared there I am stumped. I don't think I told them about it as I've only been with this insurer for about 5 years and I'm sure it wasn't on last year's paperwork. I must dig it out and check.

I'll clear an afternoon to ring them this week then!!

I’d ring them, it’s always best to query anomalies on your policy. I’d also be ringing round other insurers for quotes, if you find a better quote and decide to go with it ask for proof of your no claims bonus, if you have any, it can be transferred to the new polIcy.
