Children’s shoes - recommended

What boys casual shoes/trainers/sandals (for size 1-2) would you recommend other than Clark’s please? We have no issue with Clark’s quality but we would like to look at other brands that are perhaps not quite so pricey.

We have found Skechers to be really good. They are also pricey at full price but are often reduced on Amazon, I've paid about £18-20 for the last couple of pairs which is cheaper than Clarks

By that size my ds was wearing the sports makes. Generally either nike, adidas or puma. Marks and spencer were good for school shoes.

My kids have always worn next shoes their whole lives, and then supermarket brands occasionally too. I cannot afford Clarks!

My dc loved Superfeet trainers. We had several pairs. They come from independent kids' shoe shops.

My DCs usually end up with Skechers, although their current trainers are Puma and Fila as they were really cheap in our local Costco branch a few weeks ago.
For sandals, I usually buy walking sandals from outdoorsy shops. I usually try to guess ahead what size they'll be the following summer in the end of season sales, and have only been caught off twice - one year I assumed DD2 would stay roughly in line with her sister of thr same age, so we could reuse her old ones (she was s size bigger so no sandals in the loft as DD1 was that size during Winter), and this year for DD1 but that was a mistake of thinking a woman's size 5 would be fine (totally underestimated the difference in width fitting between a junior and adult 5!). Overall it has been a good tactic as I've only had to buy 2 at full price and only 'wasted' £6 on the sale pair of ladies sandals (which if DD2 never fits either, can easily be sold on as BNWT). Sale sandals usually cost £5-10 IME.
