I hate my job so much I feel sick at the thought of going in tomorrow morning

As per title really.

My boss is rude, speaks to me like absolute shite over the most ridiculous things and I hate it. Laying in bed crying and can’t sleep about the thought of going in. But I know if I quit I’ll get guilt tripping, disappointed noises and it’ll be so awkward in terms of references. This isn’t just Sunday night (I know it’s Monday but!) feelings is it

Look for another job asap. I had a similar issue in my last job and one day I just snapped and quit. They seemed genuinely surprised that I would want to leave!

Love my new job and I've never looked back.

I really don't understand why you can't go on holiday somewhere where everyone will enjoy it

In the OTHER thread, the OP already said they go away SEVERAL times a year to OTHER places and have OTHER types of holidays. You're welcome.

That sounds awful. I have been in your situation, and quit. Have you got what is politely known as a FU fund, that can cushion you until you get another job? Or find another temporary source of income.

It can sometimes be better to quit before having another job lined up, because what you are going through can make it harder to think clearly and focus on getting another job. Is there some-one else in the team who can give you a reference- it just needs to give your start and end dates etc, job title etc.

Suggest you look up Annie Duke's stuff on quitting (loads of stuff on YouTube, plus she's written a book on it). She's a big advocate on quitting when we are in toxic or dangerous situations (including work) and not trying to stick things out. She argues that there should be a lot less stigma on quitting.

Honestly, any job will be better at the moment so look for jobs in Aldi etc… they will be glad of someone and give proper training so that you know what you are doing.

Start job hunting now.

Knowing you're applying for other jobs and that you are making your escape plan will make you feel better.

You don't need to put up with not being properly valued.

JussathoB · 02/05/2023 09:14

Start planning your escape. Hopefully this will make you cope better with this awful situation because you know you will be able to change it soon.
if at all possible I wouldn’t quit without making other arrangements, as that might give you problems to sort out eg lack of funds etc.
So get another job and move on.
Also focus the minute you stop your shift/day on looking after yourself - fresh air, walk, nutritious food, music or hobby, sleep.

I just resigned from my new job today.I have been there for 8 weeks, felt miserable from day 1. My instinct reaction told me it's not right job for me.

My boss is very rude, bullying from very beginning. Today once she call me in, I just said my notice letter is ready. I felt a big relief once I walked out of the door.

This new job affects my mental health a lot.
Life is too short to dealing with miserable work situation.

greyhairnomore · 26/06/2023 11:59

Can you afford to leave while you look for something else ?
I had a boss like this once it's horrible , fortunately she was disown and left.

Deathraystare · 26/06/2023 15:59

@Jemandthehologramsunite

Yeah I wish I had left sooner. Really knocked my confidence for six!

Whatyoutalkingabouteh · 26/06/2023 16:08

Had a friend who’s boss was vile towards her - her confidence was crushed to the point I thought she’d have a breakdown. She doubted everything she did. Fast forward to next job and the difference! She loves her job, her boss and has won an internal award and cannot believe she put up with that BS
